Coupe In Snow

I'm new to the board so this question was probably answerd before but i will ask it just in case.

How is the coupe in the snow? I hard a lot of different oppinions on this topic from non coupe owners, so i figure i shoulod ask the experts. Thanks in advance.

Since i'm new some info on me.

Got a Orion Blue Coupe in Toronto with Bose (judging by the earlier post i guess that was a mistake) evolution, alarm, cd changer and leather. Should get it by the end of May ( so they say)

Also would like to add that i realy love the way people post on here, great answers and good attitude towards each other.

I believe the Evolution package compares to the C7 package in the States. Here it comes with 17" wheels and summer tires. You'll need to buy good winter tires (for all 4 wheels) to traverse the snow. I've read other posts where people with winter tires seem to do alright in the snow.

i don't think bose is a mistake. it's good enough for me.

as for snow, i bought winter tires and was all prepared to go go go! but we got no snow snow snow...

but i'd still recommend some snow tires. i bought steel rims but some people are selling their oem alloys so i'd buy those and put winter tires on.

avlis did a nice test in a snow filled lot... search for snow and avlis...

The Bose isn't a mistake. Just didn't meet MY expectations of what a separate subwoofer should sound like. I've also noticed the sub performs better on certain songs, and it's not necessarily the bass-heavy ones. Other than the lack of bass, the Bose is great.

If you got the 17” wheels, get some snow tires and go. Don’t worry about the rear wheel drive. ESP will keep you going wherever the wheels are pointed.

Good to read that the ESP does its job in snow. I was wondering about the rwd myself.

Thumbs up

I was very pleased with how well the coupe handled in snow and ice. I also have the Evo package and I used Michelin Pilot Alpin tires (same size as the summer Michelin Pilot Sports).

I didn't get to do serious testing due to mild winter in New England, but the coupe handles great on slick (wet) conditions. I expect snow will be fine with right tires.

I put on Nokian tires-a finnish tire with a year round and m/s rating. Take a look at them-they were fine driving in dry conditions. You can find more than you ever wanted to know about snow tires on the nokian tires web site. I got steel wheels so I dont have to have the tires mounted/balanced twice a year.

As another Canadian living in the snow belt I can tell you must positively purchase some snow tires for your car. The summer tires are for summer only. If you try to drive in winter with those tires you are only asking for problems.

nokian tires are INCREDIBLE!

I had a set of Hakapelicki (?) from Nokian on my old VW Corrado and they turned that car into a winter beast. The tread on those tires is designed to grip into ice and snow, and they do an incredible job. Friends thought that i had studded tires because i could drive on solid sheets of ice.
