2002 C230K, 2001 Audi TT 225 Coupe
Potential C230k Buyer

Hi gang, I am probably on the road to a C230k. Driving a 225 Audi TT that is chipped and exhausted. But for same reason one of your gang is looking at a C240, I am looking at the Coupe. Have a new wife who wants kids and already have an 11 year old who won't fit in the back of the TT soon. The Coupe backseat is comfy compared to a GTI or Jetta or even an A4.

OK, so what do you like about the Coupe and what are common problems?

I test drove the Coupe 6 spd and it is nice (the manual is fine), but nothing like the TT in terms of taking twisties or power and the interior of the TT is first rate. You guys must pay through the nose for every little option. Love my heated seats but won't get them in the Coupe.

But the Coupe has a lot of class. The Coupe is fun to drive, relatively quick, that sunroof is great and it should carry 4 in comfort. Looks like a great road car for a weekend golf trip or an urban guerilla. Great versatility. Love the look in front, not crazy about that back. But in all, a real winner.

My big complaint is there are no stinkin Xenons. So can you aftermarket them? and by whom?

So, now I am trying to sell my TT. Should I wait for a 2003 or get the old engine? By the way, salesman tells me Coupe's popularity in Europe is high so they are having trouble getting all they want here - selling at MSRP

I been driving my Coupe for around 4 mths, and till now...theres not a single problem!

I must admit that i was surprised how comfortable the back is ( i bought the car without sitting in the back...as i will be the only person driving/sitting most of the time) In fact, my brother was fuming about how crampy his CLk is in the back.

Alright, back to your question. It is a great car, carry a mercedes badge, has the great roof ( at a price), comfortable. HID lights are avaliable after-market (plenty of ppl in the forum have them..including me)

Although they are selling like hotcakes, i believe u can get 1 at MSRP. I got mine under MSRP, even when the car is so rare that time.

Ermm.....wait for the 03 or current model??

I don't know about that. One of the guys here posted all the new 03 features before, but i am not sure how accurate it is. Heard that the 03 has different buggy-looking headlights (glad i got my 02)...Engine-wise, theres a lot of comments about a new engine..check with your dealer. Most importantly, DO YOU WANNA WAIT?!?!!

xeon lights.. i would wait cuz PIAA's got something new comming up soon.. add on transformers.. or something like that.. waiting for it so i can test it out... gonna cost like 499 CAD.. much better than HID kit...

It will be tough stepping done from a high quality car like an Audi to a Mercedes but I see your point about space. The coupe's leg room is actually a little bigger than the sedan. Mercedes are tempermental cars and are far from trouble free but they are fun to drive and most dealers are good to work with.

You can get HID Xenons for about $400 that plug into the H7 Halogen socket. Hella makes a kit, just search the forum for where to get it. Another place is Autolamps-Online.com. Just avoid a place called Hid4Less.com because the less is for less service not less price and a few forum members where taken.

You'll be able to kick up the performance using a pulley kit from at least a half dozen manufacturers.

You should be able to get a good discount at a high volume dealer. The common scam is trying to sell you a $400 cd changer for $1,000. You can get an indash CD player from Germany pretty cheap and it sounds better.

Thanks. Do not want to wait as dealer wants to swap at port for me for a Magma Red, Charcoal with C5,C7 and C1. Don't need the C1 but what the heck - do the powered seats have a lumbar support?

Reason I wait is that I have a perfect 225 TT that I put about $4k in and if I trade, I will get taken. So I am trying to retail it.

I got mine 2.5 weeks ago and pay 4% below MSRP in CA. Try another dealer, I am sure you can get a good deal.

High quality Audi?

Hi Bullwinkle. I guess that "high quality" comment was tongue in cheek. That TT is a great sports car, expecially with all I put in it, but it does have its share of little things that are bothersome - nothing big but windows that go down on a whim, a nav system button that needs changing every 3 months. Most problems with Audis on the TT forum have to do with some of the dealers not being up to date tech wise and not taking their customers seriously.

Thanks for the info and when I sell my TT (know anyone? It is a great car), I guess I will move up on the membership ladder here.

Asking for Modded TT?

Hi Xeon,

Well, Black Book Wholesale for a perfect Quattro Coupe is about $31,500 with Nav. Retail Blackbook is about $35k. I've put another $4.5k in it with APR EMCS chip and APR exhaust, Euro OEM side mirrors, Stongard Kit, Bilsteins and Neuspeed Rear AntiSway Bar and New Bridgestone S-03 Pole Positions for rubber (awesome grip and quiet), and I am asking a little bit over $35k. I've got 23k miles on it (lots of hiway miles in Dallas) and it is warrantied to 50k with Audi paying everything including brake pads. You only pay for gas.

fair? reasonable?

My pic files are too large

Hi Xeon

I need to lower the file content of the pics and don't know how. If I had your email I would send the pics to you.

As to heavy driver, I have the visitation thing going with a child and the ex moved 40 miles away (ez hiway miles at 2600 rpms in 6th gear) after I purchased the TT. Now I want someone else to have all the fun so it doesn't get too many miles

Will look for y'all tomorrow.

Duffer - Are you waiting for the 2003 Model? I'm thinking the same but everyone on here swears that it's gonna be a 1.8L. You might wanna think about ******ing up a 2002 2.3L.
