Diesel Speed!!!
Hi guys,
Some time ago when I purchased my diesel sportcoupe I done a little test run.
I taked this foto, it was going at 4000rpm (revs at 4800,+- 143mph, straight line and clear road) and its not chipped.
A few days after that I reached 148mph!
I have some friends with the same car and some reached the 155mph
You guys in US don't have the pleasure to drive this expectacular engines, + response and torque
(2003 c220 cdi sport coupe 143bhp, 340Nm of torque, 137mph top speed)

C320 Coupe
the e320 cdi is an amazing car. for the same price as the normal 320, you get better performance and better gas mileage. 369lb-ft torque!!! that thing probably feels like an ICBM. too bad more of these advanced diesels aren't available in the US. i wonder why not?

i hear its because the shanty quality of US diesel fuel. its like mud compared to the rest of the world diesel fuel. even if they did bring it to the US, California gets the raw end of the deal with all the restrictions we have on diesels. ironically because alot of the newer diesels are cleaner burning than gasoline.

The picture was taked from a mobile phone (nokia 6600) and the quality is poor, also was taked at nigth while I was driving
the dials ligths are yellow
At this moment I'm using a new type of diesel that gives to modern diesel engine better performance ( shell or BP ) and reliability.
Diesel engines have faster response and acceleration but near the top speed they are slower, because after beeing reached the max rpm power (in my car 4200rpm;revs at 4800rpm/ C30 CDI 3800rpm;revs at 4500rpm) the torque is no longer available, because the max torque is reached very earlier 1800rpm (340Nm mine/ 540Nm!!! c30 cdi) (jaguar xkr 550Nm) and remain constant till 3000 or 4000 rpm (model depends)
Also I changed my stock air filter by a KN, and it gives more quick response!
Diesels are great to make performance changes, I'm also thinking chipping it to give the car even more punch (177bhp and 400Nm of torque) all for 500€, no parts required!!!
Now, my dream car is the fastest diesel auto in the world, the C30 CDI AMG but in my country it costs 25000€ more than my c220cdi and the same as an M3
Take a look on mercedes videos on a german tv site, see the mercedes section, also Testbericht» individual test; Tracktest» the word says everything; Vergleichstest» comparative; Spezial» special

because US drivers are unaware of the great quality of diesel powered cars, they won't sell

Speaking of U.S diesel fuel, it will soon improve (so they say). Right now its sulphur content is too high for the modern finesse diesel engines.

IMO, Diesel is way more efficient then Hybrid. I'm sure my next car will be diesel.
The best part of diesel is seating 5 vs. seating 1 will have no different in normal acceleration.

beside the engine revs at 4500-5000rpm, it accelerate faster than a petrol engine, and its not necessary to rev the engine, normaly whe shift gear at 3800 or 4000 when it got full power and torque, it gives a kick, after a few seconds you shift again, and so on... its very quick (I have 6speed manual gear box)
I got a 98 CLK 2.0 komp auto with factory 192bhp, and its only quicker at higher speed (112 - 150 mph)
My mom have a 98 audi A6 2.5TDI v6 and its even better, with 150bhp its a little quicker than mine, but the 6 speed manual gear box and the v6 engine is wonderfull.
Audi have better diesel engines and more quicker than the MB and BMW ones!
The E270 CDI and the E320 CDI in europe got many malfunctions, like turbo, injectors, ECU... they just don't had luck, thats why my father just ordered an new audi A6 3.0TDI v6 6speed auto, quattro with 225bhp.

Yeah the CDI is great as soon as you actually get going its like a rocket when the turbo kicks in. Only down-side are idle-vibration and noise, especially when the engine is cold or when ****ty fuel is used. Now when i say this, the upside is certainly the fuel economy and torque. Infact it handles steep accents just as well as my 2001 V8 Holden (Chevy V8 @ 225kw) ever did.
So if they wanted to improve it, quiten it even more and give it more low down punch and it would most certainly be THE car to buy. Plus with Bio-fuel's becoming more and more popular its a no-brainer really.
