2005 C240 Front Passenger Window Problem

Greetings,

I am in need of a solution for the following problem. The window - lock - light at the bottom - side mirror will not operate. I can manually lock the door but not by using the remote button or the interior lock button. I went to the local dealer and was informed it was the "Seat Switch" P/N 203-821-42-58-7167.

Does this make sense to anyone? I researched myself and it did not.

If this is the correct P/N is there anyone that has any experience in replacing this? I've watched a couple of videos on taking the door panel off but want to make certain I don't F it up. Also, will this switch need to be programmed so the "Side Airbag" will inflate properly OR will it work regardless.

If this is NOT the correct P/N, does anyone know what that one is?

Thanking you in advance for any thoughts and solutions provided.

Cheers.
Rick

Check fuse 22 on the cabin panel (end of the dash, driver's side).

Next Suggestion?

Thank you for the suggestion. Upon inspection of fuse 22, it was found to be intact and not blown. I tried the window...lock...etc., still dead.
Is the suggestion of the part listed correct or is there another possible solution?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

That is the power seat control switches. I don't think that would have anything to do with the locks or mirror. Do your seat controls also not work? In that case, it sounds like the door controller. That's why I had you check its fuse. If it's getting power but not working, then it could be a broken wire going into the door, the wiring inside the door, or the control module itself.

Seat Controls Work Fine....

....but not the window...lock....mirror....light at the bottom of the door.

Would you happen to know the P/N for the door controller, please? As far as loose/broken wire, anybody have a description on how to determine this?

I did not think the seat control sounded correct, so thank you for the clarification, Rodney.

Cheers,

Rick

There are different parts depending on model year and options. My GUESS is that it's A2038205485, but I need your VIN to look up and know for certain. When you check the fuse, did you pull it or check it with a meter? You might try pulling it for a few minutes just to see if it resets anything.

Door Controller...

Rodney, first, thank you. VIN WDBRH61J95F617796 2005 C240 WAGON BASE.

RE Fuse...I pulled fuse 22...inspected it, with a flashlight and magnifying glass. It was removed for approximately 2 minutes and I swapped it with the 30 A fuse in 21.I DID NOT put a meter on it. I will pull and leave for 10 minutes.

Cheers,

Rick

Ah, glad i got the VIN - it's A2038201485 (A2038205626 is an older part that will also work). You can swap it with a used controller with the same part number (either of those) and as long as the donor car has the exact same options (mainly power seats and dimming side mirror) then it will work with no coding needed.

USED Controller A 203 820 14 85

...from VIN WDBRF40J14F530940. Is there any way to know if this vehicle has the exact same options?

Thanks Rodney.

Rodney, I found a replacement door controller and it came from a vehicle that matched my 2005 C240. I replaced it today and I am still without any functionality of the front passenger door. Any thoughts on how I should proceed from here, sir? Thanks as always. Rick

I wonder if you have a wiring issue to the door controller. Check the RDWH (red w/white tracer) wire for +12v. It's pin 2 on the door separation harness and pin 5 on the 7-pin connector on the door controller.
