New secret MFD menu?

Hi,

I guess everybody in this forum is familiar with the ESP/dyno-mode menu on the MFD. "Normally" there are two screens in this hidden mode (the ESP-dyno on/off screen, and the screen that shows the oil-level, instrument cluster version etc.), right? I was foolin' around with it a while ago and guess what... I found one more hidden info screen. There were lots of numbers displayed (something in style with SW3... and some hex-values. I don't have a clue on what those numbers are supposed to show/indicate. Does anyone know???

Hi DtS,
I may be the only one on this forum NOT to know, but where can I find details on the ESP/dyno-mode menu? I don't know what that is, and I feel the need to play with something new.
Thanks

No, the button you use to reset the odometer on the edge of the instrument cluster. Its a little round fellow. Its also used for dimming the dash light level.

Here is the procedure:

1. Turn key to pos. 1
2. Immediately press and hold the odo reset button for ~30 secs.
3. Now (if you were fast enough pressing the button after placed key in pos 1) you will hear a short beep.
4. On the left steering wheel button, press the one that looks like a paper-sheet under another paper-sheet (the lower right if I remember correctly)
5. Now you will see a new menu, that you can nav around just like any of the other menues.
6. To disable this menu, just turn key to pos 0, remove the key, and insert it again

...to enable the third screen (wich I was talking about initially :o )in the hidden menu , press an hold the "up-arrow" button and the "+"-button simultaniously for ~15 secs.

After you have done this, please tell me what you see!

Funny, I knew how to get into the diagnostic screens but I didn't know how to change the dash light level.

OK, I know I should RTFM, but is there a trick to changing the dash light level? I turned the knob both directions but see no change.

It looks like some sort of register information. There is a diference when the engine is on or off (the SysZust changes from S2 to S3). Looks like some sort of system state. The other values don't do a lot. I've tried driving around, but there isn't any change. Only the S2 thingie is changing rapidly with 2 or 3 different numbers...

anyone with some inside info??

Mark

These are event flags for the ECU and enable the technician to determine what sensors have been activated in the engine management system.

Cool! Thanks for your answer Viper. Do you happen to know what sensors triggers those numbers? Had my car in for service A today, but didn't get an opportunity to ask the service guy about it.

Has anyone tried to get any of these diagnostic menus on a 2005 C230K? I can't seem to get any of this to work.

Hrmmm-

My first line under the "up arrow / +" menu has 3 lines

Most were stagnant, but the first line, second part, would go between 0044, 0046... then it leveled at 0046 and would switch to 004E?

Any ideas what that is?

That would be decimal 68, 70, .. 78. Could be inside temperature reading? Or maybe some internal paramater value not directly related to anything we would care about
