I noticed as I was waxing yeaterday, there is a large chip in the middle of one of the spokes - maybe the size of a dime!!
It couldn't be a curb mark (driver's side), so maybe it's a rock chip?

In any event, I want to find a wheel. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, guys!!!

I believe there are places where you can get it repaired or re-finished.

You can buy them new from this site:

They're $299 each though. I'd buy one if it would fit with a tire on it in the spare tire compartment. Maybe it would fit uninflated...

Thanks, Harris! My problem is: I only have one car and I depend on it for daily transportation. I may consider ordering Chrome versions and exchanging my old ones, though.

Cryptonic - thanks for the link!

Anyone else?

Beware of chromed aluminum alloy wheels - they can actually be dangerous due to cracking (due to thermal stress caused by some chroming processes). If you get any, make sure they're German-made or at least TÜV-certified, for ultimate safety. They don't screw around with safety in Germany...but they sure do in N America.

They also look a mite too flashy and Snoop Doggy Dog-gy for these eyes at least.

From my experience, refinishing a damaged wheel only takes 1 day to 1.5 day at most. Maybe you can use the spare tire during that time?!
Agreed with MickT, beware of chrome wheels. Another thing is money spend on 4 chrome wheels can buy you a couple of C7 wheels (if they are really $299 ea). High quality wheel chroming is not cheap.

I will look into refinishing.... If no one in my area does it, I will likely have to bite the bullet and pay the $299.

chorme will cost you nearly that much each wheel. i would think that 299 is more than fair. if it is a genuine mb wheel.

I just thought of something. You said you didn't really know how the chip happened. Maybe it was a manufacturing defect and a piece just broke off? If so, you can take it back to the dealer and they should be able to get you a new wheel from Mercedes Benz. If it is clearly a chip from something physically cutting into the wheel, you're out of luck. It would likely be covered under insurance, but your deductible is probably more than $299.

I'll give that a shot, but it does look like something impacted the wheel. It's just in a very odd spot - in the middle of the spoke, halfway across.
I have zero deductible comprehensive coverage - but would this qualify for that?

Thanks again.

Does anyone think comprehensive would cover it?

Beats me. My guess is that unless you pay a ridiculously large amount of insurance already, then they'd raise your rates by around $150 per yer for the next 5 years to get back their $300 from your claim. Insuarance companies do things like that.

My strategy with insurance companies is: "Don't bother the company with small matters because they'll charge you for wasting their time." If you get your car stolen or in an accident that costs $500,000, that's what the insurance company is for.

I set my deductables at $500 and anything less than twice the deductible, I won't bother them about. Since your deductible is $0, you're paying for that extra service, so you might as well hold them to it.

Then again, they might not do anything for you since it's a cosmetic blemish and not a structural or safety problem.

Comprehensive coverage should apply. Contact your agent.

Take a good look at the damaged area and see if there is a crack running through the rest of that spoke. If there is, it will be a warrantee item most likely. A rim should not chip away leaving rough metal. If there is a gouge and linear marks where the chip is you are out of luck. Try the dealer first.
