Possible AUX input in '05 sound system, any news/info?
I also noticed this while I was reading the manual for my '05... That Mercedes may offer an AUX input for the '05 radios sometime soon. That all you need to do is press and hold the Changer button and it will say aux, and that it will be a dealer accessory "that may be available". Anyone have any news? Will this be another b/s $300 audio cable? Thanks.

Aux In for 05 C-class
Ask your dealer for the wiring harness A 203 540 61 07 (should be about 30$).
There is a connector (male, 4 pins) located inside the right door sill near the A-pillar. When you install the A 203 540 61 07 into the glove box on one hand side and connect it to the vehicle headunit harness, you will have your Aux-In option.
This only works with MY05 and later vehicles. Be sure your headunit supports Aux-In (press CDC-button for more than 2 seconds).

i wonder if the removal would be similar to the removal of the 01-04's i would suspect it wouldnt be much different. the radio removal im sure is different. check out the audio10 install thread for the removal of an 01-04 console and see if its similar to yours.

Aux In C-class 203 MY05
@jucarbon
Where do you buy original MB spare parts? Try your local MB dealer!
You needn`t remove the headunit, as the plug for your Aux In harness is located in the sillar!
Sorry I can't post any pictures, as I haven't done any mods like this. I'm just a designer for wiring harnesses.

Again, I'm really not sure if the 05's are the same.

Aux In C-Class
@ nlpamg: Sorry, of course not "sillar" but "door sill" (I'm not a native speaker of the English language).
@JeT: yes, the connector is the same with Comand before '05 and with ANY headunit from '05 on in the C-class.
JeT's right picture shows the connector to which the Aux In harness must be connected - that's it!

I've got an AUX input hardwired into my OEM head unit, so I know it can be achived for pre 2005 cars. The 1/8 inch jack is in the storage tray underneath the HU. I didn't do the technical work though, so I'm not sure about any of the specifics.

Thanks for the pics and info Jet.
If it's under the door sill, then I'll probably just have the dealership do it, I don't want to mess anything up.

Aux In For 05' On Cars
If this is in fact true, I think it's a great option to have for those of us who want to direct-connect XM or an Ipod into a MY05 Head Unit!! Yeah!
Someone please post pics of the location of this AUX IN jack and the cable/wiring harness that's needed!
THanks!

Question For Jet
Are u saying that an AUX IN connector is available on pre-2005 C-classes WITHOUT Comand? (I thought only cars WITH Command had the AUX IN option)?!!!
Thanks.

My command wire harness (which miroj kindly tracked down for me) happens to have the aux input already incorporated into it which resides down under the door sill with the white connector (pictured above) just sitting there. So all I needed to do was buy the aux cable and plug it directly into this connector in the door sill.

To Recap...
Here's what I believe we've learned so far:
1-There is no AUX-IN factory option on pre-MY'05 cars without the Command. In other words, there is no AUX IN factory option for pre-MY05 cars with the stock headunit (i.e., Audio 10 or Audio 30).
2-According to the poster from Germany (cc4469), for MY'05 cars (with the basic cd headunit - no Comand) there is an AUX IN factory option which can be implemented with a certain cable/harness (Part Number A 203 540 61 07) and which can be accessed by pressing the CD button for 2 seconds.
Can someone with a MY'05 car press the CD button for more than 2 seconds to see what happens?
Thanks.

I held the CDC button on my '05 with the stock stereo system and it does indeed bring up an AUX Input setting. So all '05 cars should have this.
Hope this helps.
