Windshield w/ rain sensor
I need to replace my windshield on my car. The insurance company put in an aftermarket windshield and the rain sensors arent working properly. They are going to put in an OEM windshield and I was wondering, would a 2004 windshhield with the rain sensors fit a 2003. are the plugs the same and would the rain sensors work properly?
I already have the rain sensors in my car. I want to know will the plug of the 03 rainsors harness fit a 2004 windshield with rain sensors?

No that will not work. The lens of the rain sensor is mounted from factory onto the windsheild itself. When the MY 04 came, the rain sensor changed as well. The integrated the rain and light sensor in one unit. If you have a my 04 windsheild, then you have to have a my04 rain/light sensor combo unit. Also, DAS has to be told the new sensor has been installed. But, you can get a 03 windsheild back, then you're good to go without any changes being necessary.

thats what ill do it get an 03 windshield then. no biggie, if it were plug and play i'd go for the 04, i like the look of the rain sensors. thanks sunil.

yeah well now i know. i didnt even think much about it at the time. then when the rain sensors werent working right, and the dealer said what it was i made a stink over it. so now im going to get an OEM and i know for future reference.

When I needed a new windshield on my last vehicle, the insurance company told me that I was covered for aftermarket glass only. They said that because the vehicle was over three years old. they only needed to replace the damage with an "equivalent" part.
They said that under three years they allow the owner to select OEM or aftermarket.
My guess is that a law or regulation exists that requires the insurance company to use OEM, if requested, when the vehicle is under three years old.

It's no longer "daimler benz", but just a retro font with "Mercedes Benz".
I personally don't like the sticker on the windshield (it looks like those annoying Virginia, New Jersey inspection stickers where after a year you can't even see out your windshield), but if it must be on, I like the new MB one better.

Mr. Mario. That bird was flying a little low. she hit me in the front and the insurance company finally came to the deicsion that it was her fault. didnt see any malt liquor in her crappy camaro, but i wouldnt be surprised if she were sipping on grandpas cough medicine earlier in the day.
