Exclamation Problem

I already posted something like the post im about to post right now on benzworld but no one replied to it, so here i go again. Sometimes when i start my C230 in the morning the engines rumbles and flutters and then starts. The other night i started it for the first time that day and it fluttered and didnt start SO I turned the key back and turned it again it fluttered again and then it did start. I have a feeling it could be something with the fuel pump and gas flooding the engine sometimes but im not any MB Technician to know that. I love my car alot so this worries me a lot, someone please tell me what they think it could be.

You're going to get a million different stories. Before it gets any worse, or the starting causes any serious damage, take it in to the dealer and have them check it out under Warranty. You gotta milk that warranty. Ignition, starter, fuel pump, or timing. It could be a number of things. Have a pro look at it, and get it fixed !

ive had ML350, C240 wagon, C320 coupe, C280 sedan (W202), 04.5 C230WZ, C320 sedan.

if you have a good dealer they dont look at what you drive too much. I mean an SL or S class owner will get a better car I would assume but I still get good cars. Plus I know my Service Advisor and I ask for a different car everytime. So I can drive different models.

i dont complain about the loaners i get, especially at Penske and Hoehn when I would go there.

let's see, the 2 times I've gone in...
once for Service A, and the other for warranty work,
I got an ML320 and C320 Sedan respectively. I made appointments both times and reserved an MB. I bought the car at that dealership, so maybe that is why. I've heard other people who just pop in without an appointment and didn't buy the car at that dealer get C240 or Toyota Camrys.

my dealer will do it within 1500 miles of a service. that way you can squeeze an extra one before the warranty is up.

Problem

Hello everyone, first post. I purchased a 2002 C230K a few months ago and was having the same issue as the original problem posted in this thread. When I had the car in for its 20K service B, I mentioned the issue. My service advisor, Hans, suggested that I run regular fuel and see if the issue cleared up. It did. Every time I run Plus or Premium fuel it sputters in the early (cold) mornings. I have searched this forum for the past month looking for any answers to this issue. I will press forward with the dealership to resolve the issue. I would also like to hear from any others with this problem and the ultimate solution. I will stop lurking around and post when I have an idea or two to contribute. Also, I have seen a few suggestions where people can store images. Could someone remind me of the locations so that I can get a pic of my new (to me) car up?

-Eric

Here is my attempt on the image

Also, the MB Service said that no error codes were present from the issue.

The file has been uploaded and appears to be attached.

Lurker no more.

I took my baby to the dealer wednesday for that problem i was talking about... They didnt even have a loner to give me even though i called them on monday and told them i would come in on wednesday they said i never made a "real" appointment so i was car-less . i told them to not start it for 2 days just to make sure that the problem will happen. Now all I'm worried about is how they're gonna take care of the car at the dealer, any of you guys have some bad dealer stories to tell me?

Another question, why is there different colors for every person at the desk in the service center, what do they mean?

BTW, while i was waiting for my friend to pick me up from the dealer i was looking around the lot and there was a CL600 with spinners(wasnt my cup of tea) and i saw two MB salesman come out and play with the rims...i found it pretty funny how grown men can stare at a spinning rim during their job for 35 minutes...im not even joking i timed them

I wouldn't run anything put premium on your car if i were you.. It's a supercharged engine, anything lower then premium will enduce detonation.. I would go with the higher octane gas if i were you and have your dealer fix the problem!!

Are both service A and service B covered by the factory warranty or do you have to pay for them?

yes. i don't like them. i'm only in the area consulting a business and i had car trouble and they just wouldn't give me a loaner. the techs are above avg than the other places i've been too though, like ann arbor or sylvania oh. they don't car about your business since bloomfield and birmingham is a wealthy community and will always have that market share.

btw, they already sold like 5 c55s. heck, most of the cars they sell are amgs.

I called my dealer about my car today. They said that the fluttering happens with these models and that he changed the spark plugs and it should all be fine now. He said it could have been caused by a bad tank of gas, thinking back to it i did put premium from some no name express gas station this one time ...im goin to pick it up now, cant wait to drive it again and have it at my house.

You gotta remember, that for 2004.5 models and older the
Service (Maintenance Plan) and the WARRANTY are 2 different things.
They are mistakenly confused, because they both last the same amount of time (ie: 4 years / 50K miles)

Your service plan is basically a new vehicle maintenance commitment,
that includes your Service A's and B's.

The WARRANTY portion covers all else (ie: problems, manufacturing defects, technical bulletin updates, recall issues)

The NEW 2005 models do NOT have the Service Plan, but DO have the WARRANTY. So that means, that a 2005 model car owner has to pay for Service A & B.

-------------
C230\PV, let us know if you're fluttering was fixed. How does the car feel ?
