K&N Box Filter for 2005 c230 SS - Part Number

Does anyone know the Part number for a K&N Filter to replace the existing stock air filter in my 2005 c230 SS. Is it worth getting one? I usually put one in all my cars.

I just changed my stock filter to K&N last night. Here's the rundown:

1) CLK 430 has 25,500 miles on the OEM filter.

2) When the air intake was removed, I noticed a lot of dust and sand-like (very fine) dirt in the intake and in the chamber where the filter sits.

3) Filters were only about 25% dirty. Most of it was still a bright yellow (clean) color. There was gravel and even insect parts in the chamber.

4) Installing the K&Ns were easy as pie. I wiped down everything before dropping in the filters.

5) Performance. The Car has much better pick-up and revs a little easier. Engine as a whole is more responsive. Tough to tell whether it is strictly the K&N or just cuz its a new filter.

Hope this helps.

thanks SoCalCLK for the info...
I've heard accounts just like yours, and then others who say they notice absolutely NO improvement whatsoever.

I'm going to try a new K&N air filter when my AMG exhaust is installed later this week. I should probably wait and see how the exhaust does first,
and then see if I can notice anything with the K&N filter.

I'll probably won't be able to notice much individually... so I'll have my wife drive it now (without the AMG exhaust or filter) and then afterwards with both additions installed.

Saprissa, My AMG muffler is most noticable on the top-end, highway. From 60-100 the car seems to have more "steam" and the powerband more solid when demanded upon.

FYI - I only replaced the stock muffler on my CLK 430 to the AMG muffler. The piping diameter was identical and it was just a matter of bolting/welding it connected. Some have removed the resonator that sits between the Cats and the Muffler, but I did not, to prevent the car from sounding to "honda-like."

I noticed a good gain in hp (5-6?) mostly on the highway and going uphill. The sound is absolutely perfect. Totally quiet when idle, but deep and mature when pressed on the fwy.

The K&N filters really help the car in throttle repsonse and engine resoponse, especuially when you are cruising the streets at 3000-4000 rpm and want to pass someone.

Given the costs and relative ease (only 1 tool needed-screwdriver) to install, why not?

I'm definitely going to do it... just a matter of noticing the subtle differences.

swapped out the stock for K&N in my dub at 4k... MAF went at 17k, but the mk4 VWs are notorious for MAF failure, stock intake or otherwise... cleaned it once at 25k, now she's up to 33 and no probs whatsoever.

At 25k, it looked about as dirty as my stock one was when i threw it out ^_^ the only difference I noted was that the idle smoothed out, no butt-dyno power gains. but hey, $40 for the last filter you'll ever have to buy for your car ain't half bad

mass airflow sensor, it sits just after your intake (airbox). The rumor mill surrounding the dubs at least was that excess oil from the filter would be drawn off w/the intake air and coat the MAF, causing it to fail. Which turned out to not be the case, of course. I could see that happening if you use the recharge kit and WAY over-oil the thing, but if you follow the directions (or install a brand new filter) I don't see a problem
