Radio Steering Controls, Is it possible to.....

I just got my 05 and when I set my menu to the radio in front of me and hit up or down to change stations it goes to the next available station opposed to my next preprogrammed station, is it possible to make it go to my preprogrammed stations instead of my clicking away trying to get to them?

Not possible...a feature I do not understand why they dropped in the '05s nor like the fact that they did.

It may be possible to reach, all the way over to he dash, and select the desired presets with those controls.

It may be that Mercedes has heard that Americans are struggling with obesity and are doing their part to induce additional movement in their customers.

Surely not, otherwise they wouldn't have increased the size of their cupholders:

from mbklasse

How can I make my C230 alarm "chirp" when armed/disarmed?

At the dealer, using the MB factory handheld laptop tester, go into the car's computer system.
Go into Programs
Locate the Rear SAM Program
Locate Body
Select Netherlands
Now the car does a "chirp, chirp, chirp" when locking/arming and a single chirp when unlocking/disarming

So are you saying that you do not use the steering controls at all?

You can do it with voice control.

The steering controls permit certain, specific, functions. My operation of the vehicle includes those available functions. Thanks for asking.

holy crap, i didn't know they took out the pre-programmed station function with the 2005's, what a bummer. and what a tradeoff (in a way) you can get DVD-navi now, but forget about going through presets with the steering wheel controls...weird

i discussed this with the dealer tonight, apparently all 2005 models across the board lost the ability to change presets with the steering wheel buttons, even the S class. some models have the option there in the setup but even if you enable it it doesn't work.

And the question was about having the ability to change between pre-programmed stations. A legitimate question considering that this was an option on previous years. Your comment about it being possible to reach "all the way over" to the dash provided no help at all.

Within the Forum Terms of Use the only requirement for being helpful applies to moderators. So that is a requirement for your position, not mine.

The question about functionality had two identical answers, prior to my post, in addition to all the prior topics with this same information.

My post, the one that has raised your ire, reflects my opinion on the subject, reach over and press the button ‘cause you can't do it from the wheel.

I'm well aware of the terms of use. I'm also aware that idiotic comments such as yours do not contribute to this forum. It's more than a matter of posting your opinion.

Perhaps you don't understand the general purpose of this forum. It is for the members to help each other. It's NOT just for the moderators to be helpful.

When I review the Forum Terms of Use the following is clearly defined: "Forums Acceptable Use Policy You agree, through your use of the Discussion Forums, that you will not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

It seems like your calling my prior statements "idiotic" fall more into the prohibited category, than into the charter for Moderators. Why not start being concerned with your own words?

My statement, to push the buttons on the radio, was correct information. There is every indication that providing correct information is helpful.

Your statement WAS idiotic. Of course he knows he can reach over and change the stations. You also did not offer the information as your opinion but rather as a smart A$$ response to the situation. Your comment was not helpful, nor would I even consider it humorous.

No where did I state that you violated the terms of use. I only pointed out that your useless comments were of no help.
