starting to get annoyed with service dept

I took my car in to ASC in arlington for the pulling to the right option that I seem to have inherited (for those that don't know.. this will be the 4th time for the same prob) when i got there.. my rep just said, there is nothign we can do about the problem. he could have told me this over the phone so i didn't have to make the trek down there in weekday traffic. Then he tells me what MB doesn't know how to fix the problem. WTF!!!

then he comes back as i'm leaving all peeved off saying that he will try one more thing... and if this doesn't fix it, i'm stuck with the problem

what can i do if the probelm is not resolved??

TIA

Wow, I can't believe they told you that you might be stuck with the problem. That is so unprofessional. You got three choices.

(1) Talked to the service manager (the guy who actually runs the shop) not some service advisor. Explain you problem. I have now dealt with two service managers and they are great. Service advisors are not great IMHO.

You should say, "Your team have not been able to solve the problem please consider calling in a MB tech." MB has these roaming techs that work for the company that know these cars inside out. They can fix everything.

Also, have you called the 800 number, I would think they could arrange you one of these techs for you. Tell them what your service advisor said.

(2) Lemon law

(3) sell the car.

Sorry you are having problems. Hang in there.

Beth

All of the above
FUZZO,

Your dealership stinks! But you know that already.
I agree w/ galaxygirl, keep moving up the ladder. If the service manager doesn't help go to the GM of the dealership and then to Mercedes. I wish you were a little closer to us (I'm near Philly) so we could help you out.
Demand satisfaction, at some point they will have to help you out.

CME4BENZ is right, but I've been in your shoes, in fact, I'm there now. (5 repair attempts on my seatbelt.) It's easier to sue MB, then to go up the ladder, but neither is a great option.

Fuzzo, sorry to hear about your continued problem with the pulling. Have they driven the car w/ you to see for themselves while you're there? You should do this w/ the service manager. Then, drive another C and show them it doesn't do it. It would drive me crazy to hear someone say "we can't fix it".

Also, another idea. Why don't you try calling EuroMotorcars in Bethesda. I know one service guy, Jim Perrell, who's been around for awhile. You could talk to him about the problem to see if they've seen it and know about it. Or you could talk to the service manager there too. It might be out of the way for you, but if they can solve the problem, might be worth it. Good luck, and don't take "no" for an answer.

Thanks for the replies guys... and you are right.. it is really starting to annoy me... it's these times that i wish i went with a lex or something...

THey do know that the problem exists in my car and not in others.. that's why he said that MB itself doesn't know how to fix it.. so i asked him what i should do about it and he said that i am stuck with it till they find a fix....

i am seriously considering the whole lemon law process now coz it's damn annoying...

what do you guys think i should do..sell the car or persue the lemon law?? either way i want to get rid of the car so I can go home

MarkL - I will call euromotorcars as well and see what advise they can offer me...

thanks again everyone

Fuzzo,

Just call a lawyer, after they take your case, you do absolutely nothing. They do everything for you. Then when they seattle, they send you paperwork, you sign it and drop off the car. My lawyer cost my $500 and save me tons of headaches.

Why deal with having to be pushy until someone fixes your car? When Mark said don't take no for an answer and CME4BENZ said demand satification , both are right, but think about that for a second, why should you need to deal with this? MB has had three chances to fix your car and they have failed. Now they are saying you need to live with a problem on a $35,000 car. Gimme a break.

They have had a chance and they failed, let the lawyer do the work and deal with the headache. Get your money back

Beth

I would try the service manager or go to your sales guy and ask him for the service manager that is a car nut. He should know the problem is not with the C230K but a problem with your vehicle. Someone here may suggest another dealer or service manager. Go that route and keep on going up the ladder and get MB regional reps to help;

A few things can cause pulling to one side. My assumption is they checked for the obvious wheel alignment. It maybe that they are trying to hide something like the car fell off the carrier or something before you got it. Have a good body shop check out the chassis alignment. They put it on a very level flat platform and take measurements at various points to see if the are within spec. Also tires or wheels can have internal flaws that can be causing the problem so rotate the tires from one side to the other. When the car is on the lift see if one wheel has more drag on it than the other wheels. It could be a bad wheel bearing or sticky brake caliper.

Good luck!

And remember, didn't someone post earlier that a camber kit (I think) was left off their car?

Question Camber kits??!

Gosh, I hope an OEM car doesn't have a kit. Kits usually come into play when you are lowering the car from OEM specs.

So I doubt if that is it b/c that would be highly unusual and shouldn't cause pulling anyway, uneven tire wear - yes.

Sounds like someone at Service doesn't know their stuff or is too lazy to find out. Could be damage u/ chassis or bad techs.

I'm not sure how to place a link to a previous thread, but I was referencing a thread from BrabusCClass started on 5/3/2002, "If your new C pulls make sure you take it in". I can't speak to its accuracy though...
