DIY - setting up the AUX input for iPod, mp3 player, etc.
since MBWorld changed servers, all old pics get lost somehow.
You have to right click on them, and then see "properties"
cut & paste the URL for the pic on a new browser window.
You will be prompted to log in to MBWorld again and then you'll see the pic.
Go back to the original thread and click "refresh" on the browser.
Then the pictures should show up fine.
What it is doing is logging you in to the old MBWorld server.
However, what I don't know is if, you recently registered on MBWorld, will it give you access with your new log-in name and password to the old server ???

Mods.... see ?? I'm not crazy when I said this was happening to people...
it REALLY IS annoying !
2003 Coupe has EURO COMAND
2004.5 SS has US COMAND
on EURO COMAND you activate the aux input by pressing the "AUX" button and selecting the Auxiliary Input.
on US COMAND you press the "SVC" button and then select the Auxiliary Input.
This is for CD-Based D2B 2001-2004.5 COMAND head unit. Someone with the new 2005+ MOST DVD-Based COMAND would have to chime in to explain how the Aux-In is activated on that head unit.

^^No harm done if you press and hold the CDC button. I recommend that you check to make sure that your headunit displays "Aux Active" when you hold CDC before doing the mod. If it does, you're in business. If not, it's a no go.
Question
When I hold the CDC button it indicates that I don't have a CD changer installed. Does that tell you whether I will have the Auxillary cable there or not?
I bought the cable for 28 bucks from the dealer, installed the cable in about 10 minutes with no problems - thanks forum! The sound quality is surprisingly good. Now if Sirius and XM are allowed to merge, I will always be able to use the iPod in the car once satellite goes to crap!
Everyone (that can) should install this cable, giving themselves more options.

Anyway, I looked in the glove box...and i have a plug already! Hooked up Sirius, sounds great. Routed the wires to the center armrest...perfect
The moral of story....dont give up!

eventhou i told them i was gonna install it myself.
any recommandation on where to get aux cable?
Then I found this forum, and this thread. Ordered the aux cable from my local MB dealer ($48 - yuk). Installed it last night, using only the directions in this thread, in about 20 minutes. And I have NEVER, ever tried to do something like this in a car before!
So, thanks to everyone who provided info in this thread - it was a GREAT HELP!!
my questions are as follows:
1) has anyone been able to locate this white connector in a 2007 model? if so, where was it and is it installed in all 07 models? i held down the CDC button and the aux input WAS active. ( while searching for the white connector, i found a stray rectangular BLACK connector, what is this for?)
2) if i dont have this connector, what are my options besides the factory integration kit? (please dont suggest the FM transmitter, that is the worst thing ive ever encountered)
3) if i do go with the factory integration kit, how does this function work as far as chosing the songs you want? can i choose from my entire library or do i have to have playlists that limit my selection?
4) MOST IMPORTANTLY, i would rather connect my ipod so that i may be able to control it from the actual ipod, NOT through the factory stereo. i want to be able to scroll through all my songs at any time.
after reading the responses to previous questions, i am sure someone can help me out.
thanks in advance!!!

i remember in one of the pages on this thread, the same harness was questioned, but never answered.
Thanks.

thats the only thing i found as well. i ripped everything up and traced all the wires through the back of the HU. no dice. we need the mid wire that connects the aux cable and the HU. however, there's no part number for that mid cable and it was sold as part of the nav's wiring harness..
probably better for you to get the ipod integ kit or swap ur HU to an aftermarket one.

you can in fact choose your whole library, the functionality is no different than using the iPod itself.
