DIY - setting up the AUX input for iPod, mp3 player, etc.
Only thing I would note is from hiding my wire in the smaller middle console (Bluetooth Module), i wrecked my AUX wire from opening and closing this section with my phone. If anyone does indeed do this, refrain from putting your wire... But I was so happy enough to have it installed, i didn't bother putting the aux plug in the glove compartment.
Just a little note...
Engine Harness gets installed next week due to CPS. Found one for 200+shipping. So happy!! Then w o2's from Autohaus. Hopefully after this I can spend some money on my 18's... And a baby on the way
So any DIY is gold at this point
The place to get the cable is the dealer. One of the very few things the dealer is good for...
I'm planning on getting a bluetooth receiver ($30~ on ebay) and keep it in the glove compartment. Then tap into the power/ground from the cigarette lighter and pull the wire into the glove compartment to feed the bluetooth receiver. Then I can play music off my phone (probably can't do calls since its only audio).
So it sounds good in theory, but I'll know how well it works once I get it done. Anyone see any potential problems with this? Or know of a better way?
On a side note. This forum is awesome! i learned how to install a dashcam and hardwired it into the moonroof power from the overhead. it looks awesome/clean.

Did anyone else have an issue finding the plug? Could it be that I have a different one and it is the blue one I mentioned above? Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks in advance.

That said I have heard that in some cars it is a pain to find the plug and since you have a clk it could be a little different but I am not sure.
It sounds like you have a pre-facelift vehicle just like me.
In August 2004 Mercedes did a facelift where they changed the interior of the W203 from wood-grain to a modern look. Any W203 without the 2004 August + facelift doesn't have this connector.
The best solution for you is to buy a complete new head unit from eBay. Dynavin make one however I bought a non branded one and it works reasonably good. (I'm fussy). Do an eBay search for w203 and DVD or C200 and DVD.
Cheers.

Without the number for the connector (on a little tag nearby) I can't tell what it is for, but I suspect it is for optional illuminated door sill plates, optional speaker connections, or a test connector for harness manufacturing.
The prewiring was left off many cars to save money. The ones that do have it often had the connector tucked into the sill cable raceway in front of the front edge of the door. Get a bright light and fish around and under the other cables. Sometimes it is protected in a gray foam bootie.
I had the power cable running from the cigarette lighter then behind the head unit, underneath the dashboard and alongside the front windshield so it was all tucked in nicely.
I also opened the unit up and found the FM transmitters cable then ran it in a similar fashion as the power cable to where the stock head units antenna plugs into so you won't get signal interference.
It was good having it strapped to the visor as it was eye level. Sound quality was pretty decent too!
if that have been discussed on this forum, which post is it? so sorry for not search it 1 by 1
I found this thread today and it spurred me to go digging in my right-hand drive C320 2006. I found the plug under the foot plate thingy. Passenger side. Very happy!

Anyway I want to go ahead and connect this but I'm quite keen to do the following:
1) Connect it to the BlackBerry Music Gateway (BMG) or similar device. This is a bluetooth to line-out gateway. Feeds off micro-usb power. See http://www.androidcentral.com/blackb...gateway-review
2) Wire up the BMG to car power so that it switches on and off with the car.
Then I can use any bluetooth phone to listen to music in car

I was thinking of putting this alll where I found the wire (i.e. under the carpet at the passenger door), but realised I would need to access the BMG to pair the phone with it.
I'd like to know if there are opinions:
a) of where to put the device and
b) how to power it?
I want the device hidden, but accesable to repair if needs be.
I have an ashtray under the aircon control with a cigarette lighter (which I want to remain available for use).
I don't have a back seat cigarette lighter.
I have a CDC in the cubby hole. Can I get power there?
I'm a newb and very mildly mechanically inclined.
What would you suggest?
Cheers
Louis
