I keep asking this question but no one is giving me a definite answer....is the Euro Command is plug and play job? If not, what needs to be done?

Harris, I think its pretty much plug and play - only one new connector must be added/replaced to work with COMAND, also need to add another GPS antenna under the dash.

I don't know about taking the old radio out tho...I think it may be hard.....I'll tell you for sure after my install!!!

It's easy to retrofit a comand on w203 it's almost plug ang play your stock radio connector will fit on comand connector as well as the d2b connector(cd)all you have to do is buy the c1 and c2 connector ang w203 gps antenna.Very easy and fun.

It takes about seven minutes to remove and replace the radio. I saw it done.

I am contemplating the same retrofit, it would be fantastic if you could get step by step pictures and instructions on the install of the Command and GPS Antenna (and then post them for us). Especially from Steve!

get the radio removal tool from dealer or ebay then slide it on the opening then you can pull your radio ,actually you can remove the mb radio in 30 secs with the tool.

I don't think the tool works with the oddly shaped radio in the C's.

You're right. It doesn't. This is why everyone has to remove the dash trim to do their radio work. It used to be the radio and even climate control units would slide right out with the right keys.

Funny story. At last year's auto show here, the C230 that my dealer provided (I work there) had the knobs pulled off the climate control. We couldn't buy just the knobs, so we had to get a new unit. If it would have slid out we could have replaced it easily. Instead of pulling the dash apart, we just took the knobs off the brand new unit and put them on the one in the car. That was several hundred dollars poorly spent. So don't lose any knobs in your cars, you probably can't replace them.

uhhh...its not free for the flight(s)...I get a deal but its nowhere near free !!

I'm only flying him in because I've talked to him so much, I think it'd be cool to meet and also for the expert installation of COMAND.

Sorry for the interruption of this thread but I couldn't help noticing. Are you able to help all of us 03 owners out and get us the "dyno mode / secret handshake info"? You 02 folks have capabilities that we lack. Peet, me, etc, we all would appreciate it.

No, I don't have any access to that information. I'm not a tech, and even if I was, I don't think they know anything about it. I think the only people at my dealer who know about it on the '02 are me, and one or two people that I told. I wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of it altogether because people found out how to do it.

Steve will be in Houston Dec 6th from about 230p until 840p. After the one hour+ COMAND install (YES I'LL TAKE PICS..if it doesn't slow him down!!!!), we'll try to go to Pappasitos or Luthers for dinner -- something close to George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

hi all, i know this subject has been inquired about a million times but i couldnt find an answer to this...i plan on getting the bixenon lights and want to change the 'xenon present' setting PRIOR to installing the bixenon lights...will my stock headlight bulbs (hi/low) still work with a 'xenon present' mode turned on? thanks a lot!

I dont think you can change it to Xenon present BEFORE installing the bi-xenons. You dont have Xenons installed, how can they be present? Right?
