I know some company in Japan sells it for alot of $$$. If someone could make a simple one that was fairly cheap, I'd definitely give them a shot. Does MB sell touch-up paint in spray cans (for painting these pieces)? I'm assuming some resourceful person with the right equipment could make these out of plastic or metal. The end user could paint them to match the car color and could stick them on with some strong, weather-resisitant double-sided tape. Now, if someone had the expertise to make them to such tight tolerances that they fit up against the sheet-metal tightly where you can hardly notice they are an add-on, I'd pay a little more.

Ditto! Body kit sucks. You could buy these and paint them your car's color, but I think a smaller piece set in the middle of the "peanut" would be better.

bi-xenon
You know, I was quite critical of the look of these new lights on the sedan when I first saw them, but now that I'm used to them I think I like the "look" better than the fluted-lens sedan/wagon lights. So for both function and form, I'd say "go for it" if you don't mind the rather high cost of the option.
As far as the Sportcoupé is concerned, I think the fluted lens headights are more successful aesthetically than they are on the sedan, because the shape of the light aperture is better defined and the turn signal area does not droop off to the sides, which gives the sedan with fluted lenses such a "sleepy" look. However, I also like the bi-xenon look on the Sportcoupé, so again I can see no reason other than high cost to avoid these lights.
I think that the Japanese painted lens-separators are all too obvious on the sedan and the aperture does not match the reflector shape at all. So they look rather strained. Hey, if you want an E, buy an E (if you can afford it). Otherwise I'd recommend a conversion to bi-xenon. Oddly enough, the revised reflector shape on the sedan bi-xenon lights would lend themselves better to the painted "separator". I would not want these painted inserts in any event, but at least it would better match the bi-xenon reflector shape.

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
i've got a 2002 c240 and i want the new c4 bi-xenon package on my car. the thing is that the c4 package is only for the 2003 models and up. i talked to the manager at the house of imports in buena park, ca. he said that they would not sell or install the new looking headlights due to liability purposes. does anyone know if i could go somewhere else to get it done, if its even possible.. if so where and how much would it cost?

check with performance products
You will have to have your computer set to recongnize the xenons though. Your dealer has to do this. Cost about $1300
Never tried it though, call the up and find out. The dealer will always tell you it is not possible. Do a search in here or in Benzworld.org I think it has been discussed before.

talk to steve...he has them for sale (used). i can't remeber what his email is, but someone here will tell you. as for installation, do you already have factory xenons or halogen? it makes a difference.

The Factory installed bi-xenon lamps have an autolevelling feature in them. Some have retrofitted these lights and left out the auto levelling.
Apparantly there are some sensors on the the anti-roll bars that tells the lights if the car is level or not and makes vertical corrections accordingly. But you only get this part of it when the car came with the bi-xenons. I haven't heard of anyone trying to add the autolevelling hardware. That would be nice to have.

in that case, you will not have the auto-levelling feature.....who cares anyway. as for the install, i would do it myself. note: you must go to the dealer to set the xenons to "on" or else your car won't recognize them and say you have "light out". try this link for install instructions.

This mod is always a do-it-yourself or under-the-table job as no place wants to be held liable for breaking this (silly) law.

Some dealers won't even set your xenon setting to "present" so be carefull.
Steve's email addy is s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com. You could email him and order your Bi-xenons. I had my dealer turn my xenon settings to present before I even got my lights. No malfunctions or anything.

Houston folks - Steve (the BI-XENON man) will be in town !!
I'm flying him in from San Fran on Dec 6 only for about 5 hours. He's going to install a COMAND unit for my sedan. If anyone would like to meet him/us, PM me, if time allows, I'm hoping to take him dinner as well.
I know a few people in Houston have bought BI-XENONS from him, so feel free to come out and say hello and witness an expert install of a euro COMAND unit !!!!
