Your manual seats are still wired for a range of functions. You may need to dig around for the wires.

The part number is the last one in the list. ALL OPTIONS + IMS + VENTED

A209 820 48 10 = all of the options + IMS + seat venting

a) You will need E-cla$$ seats or CLK seats to get the venting option. Ask Steve

b) Check the parts under CLK before ordering (your parts dealer will know)

c) [805] means it is for 2005+ cars (your parts dealer will know)

d) Be sure you plan to go ahead with it before you lay down the cash. There is a reasonable investment in cables and fittings. One small change like vented seats needs several parts.

I'll probably never get the vented seats and some of those other options, but since I'm getting PTS and stuff, the full switch row would look cool.
I take it the CLK switch row fits in the C-Class W203 switch row cavity just the same ?
My car is a 2003, so no worries with all the new 2005 parts.

NEVER put 2005 parts in a pre-2005 unless it is something trivial like a steering wheel (errr .... is that trivial ?)

CLK and C parts are more or less the same thing except for the plastic and trim bits.

 

I think your parts dealer is the best person to ask since that is the final supplier.

 

I called the dealer just now. They are going to run down the correct seat covers for me for both sides and call me back with part numbers and prices. When I called, I was lucky to hear that the parts gentlemen that I usually deal with was in. He remembered me and knows I do weird stuff so he is helping me out.

I will have an update as soon as I have something to update.

There are companies that do aftermarket installs of leather seat covers and seat heaters. I did an extensive search to find companies that install Mercedes leather because my 2002 C240 only has the leather inserts. However, I found no companies that do Mercedes aftermarket leather, except for some of the old models.

However, I think that an aftermarket leather installer could probably remove the present covers, install the heaters, and then reinstall the covers. When I have seen this done, the switches sit on the side of the seat on the right hand side for the driver and the left hand side for the passenger. See this website: katzkin.com.

I sweat way tooo much in my car. I have a leather sofa and leather in the car. I'm only cooooool and right when I sit at the computer or in bed. HAHA. I wish I could get the cooling down seats where they have some kind of cooling thing like the big S classes. But I'm cheap, so here I am at the computer. haha

 

vented seats are doable if you wanna spend the money. sunman is putting them in his C320. he has the driver side finished. im getting mine next spring.

 

There is a company in Australia that does leather for Mercedes but to be honest the quality is tragic. If someone is going to spend money on leather then I wouldnt get the same thing over again, I would spend a little extra and get the AMG or Designo covers. Otherwise what is the point in spending extra ? It would be nice to keep the car original IMHO.

Using an installer is a good idea but putting in strange switches is a REALLY bad idea. The Mercedes switches and main cable harness are all you need to make the heat pads work - the timer is built into the CANBUS system.

 

If you want to add heated seat in your car, I would recommend to contact Steve.
He added heated seats in my C320 changing the whole front leather, however it
wasn't that expensive.

 

At some point in time you will realise that Steve uses the exact same parts !

 

any one try or think of trying it? with the aftermarket or a-class pads, cant someone run wiring and a separate discreet switch?
also, i have heard of 'rostra' (sp?) as a vendor of seat heater pads on other forums.

I will be fitting my rear seats for heat after this project is done. I may be using the A then.

Still haven't heard from my dealer yet...I guess I will just go by there next week.

If you are fitting rear heaters to the C-class then you might want to email Sunman because he already has it. I will looking in the parts list for E-class and S-Class and both have parts that can be used in rear heating for the C-class.

 

I dont understand why anyone would need switches from a 3rd party. Its not as though $150 USD for the switches, wiring, fuse and connections are going to break anyones bank. You do after all have a frame under your seat that the connectors already click into.

 

Could it be because it is the way of modding a car.

 

Aaah, now why didnt I think of that. Its better because it ISN'T Mercedes. I can't say I have heard that concept before.

 

For the rear, you will need a homemade harness with MB connectors and pins, a w202 seat heater control module, w210 seat heater switches, w210 bracket for switches, G class or A class heat pads. And a good file set to make those holes for the switches like I have in the rear.

 

I think the W210 rear seat heater is the same one used in W210 just with a W202 part number. Im pretty sure that W210 EPC refers to all the parts needed as does W220.

I was however under the impression that there was W203 switch plate with holes but it seems I was mistaken.

 

i was refering to rear seats. i just assume that there are no existing connectors or switch locations available, and that one would have to determine where to tap into power and where to place a switch so rear passengers can control the heat. i wasnt considering whether on not to use MB parts. i'm no DIY guy, but i thought what i said made sense.

Let me assure you that Mercedes sells everything you can imagine. Rear mini-bar, rear seat laptop shelf, mobile internet gateway, PDA holder, illuminated door release and so on. Often people go to non-OEM product providers when all they need to do is look into the features and history of other Mercedes cars for the parts, switches and cables they need.

What are the odds someone in Mercedes hasn't thought of it ?

 

Just a thought, perhaps if you have the original production form (not sure if that what it is called but I got a form with my car that had a long string of three digit numbers detailing all of the options and accessories used in the build) there might be a way to determine what pads were used.

 

You're talking VMI. It doesn't go into the detail necessary: option code does not equate to PN used. HTH

 

We are talking about a free upgrade through the use of heated seat covers in cars with no heated seat option. This does happen however out of the 4 covers in the front there might be one to four covers installed with heating without having paid for it.
