No, not naked pictures of Smurfette. See below. With this, my smurf-skinning days are over, sadly.

And another:

Got it from Classic Soft Trim; it was only $20, but the cheap price is at least partially because I waited a month for it. Your price may vary. I'm not a big fan of the little notches that they cut into the leather for the plastic tabs at the bottom of the surround, but it's not too noticeable.

Nice shifter boot - tommy.

Looks like your baby could stand a vacuuming, though .

Cheers, BT

Wow

That looks beautiful! Too bad a smurf needed to be sacrificed, but it certainly seemed worth it.

Dang, T - that is *classy*! I'm sooo jealous (I could get custom leather but I'm leasing that bad boy. So tell me: are you eyeballing getting the steering wheel done, too? Naah...

I'm really thinking about springing for the shift knob - the stock one is just too 'German' for my own liking (guess I've been in the US too long ); but I couldn't locate it on the RennTech website. How did you come across it? It's the nicest shifter I've seen so far (and I don't want some carbon fiber rice knob in my benzer).

Cheers,

Chris

Hey Tommy, how much did it cost you? How much if I it's only in one color instead of two-tone? Thanks.

Was thinking of getting mine done, probably just plain oyster.

I actually found it behind one of the thousands of palm trees in Clifton.

Someone (was it renncpe?) posted some pics of the knob in the Renntech car that was touring CA in the winter. So, I took a chance and ordered it. I really do like it. If you like a rounder knob, the Brabus one looks really nice as well.

Not too much left for my interior. I still have Brabus door lock pins on order, and I'm on the fence about what to do with the steering wheel (dmichael's just waiting to pounce on my stock wheel). Renntech also makes door pulls that match the knob exactly, but I'd be a little concerned about the install.

The Bear Mtn. meet's only 2 weeks away, don't forget that.

tommy is very proud of his little knob. I'm sure he'll be happy to tell you how he polishes it often.

ROTFLMAO!!! Good one Statler!

Hey tommy, hope you're not painting that Renntech spoiler smurfy blue, too. You wouldn't do that, would you? I could hook you up with Bleeker at Muppet Labs to find a matching color... like Japisblau, or something.

Meine Guete! Does anyone here pay attention? Der Deutsche Katalog says "Jaspisblau". Y'all missin' an ESS. Jaspis = some semi-precious stone, like lapislazuli or so. My guess.

Japis is jasper, which is a cryptocystalline quartz of many colors but usually green. The color jasper is a black-green; sounds like Merdedes' Black Opal.

So I guess those of us with red cars should refer henceforth to the colour as Rot. Hmm, it sounds a bit harsh for a new car

Looks good Tommy! Long live the smurfs! By the way, didn't the smurfs turn black after beeing stung of some kind of a fly (bzz-fly or something like that). In that case all of you with charcoal leather have been using even more rare smurfs for you interior

Price list

OK, here's my price list:
CST leather $1,600 (others have gotten it for 1,500 - don't understand the difference)
CST smurf boot $20
Brabus pedals $200
Brabus door lock pins $65 (on backorder for past 6 weeks)
Renntech shift knob ~ $200 (Brabus' knob is about same price)
Compliments from passengers and forum members Priceless :p

Hokus - the driver's seat is a little wrinkled; came like that from the install. I guess that I could complain, but it's not bad to me, plus I'm sitting on it, so I can't see it anway. I think that it doesn't look that bad in person though. I've had the leather since mid-January, to answer your question directly, with about 3k on the odo.

DtS - I don't know that much about the Smurfs, and that's a good thing.

I (naturally) assumed the wrinkles were from chalupa abuse.

i forgot about this, but the spoiler thread jogged my memory enough to do a search in case i missed the thread. looks good and matches your color scheme nicely

are you comfortable w/ the aluminum trim? have you considered getting renntech's brushed aluminum trim kit?

Ordered the knob from RennTech - it was $165.- plus s/h.
Looks and feels great; I'm happy.

Talk about bringing a thread back from the dead!

No, I don't like the total Renntech kit. Besides, isn't it $2000 or so?

But, I might talk to them about just getting the door pulls in solid aluminum.

I'm pretty bummed that Brabus won't be bringing door pins over for our cars. Have you tried to remove them? I tried to twist them loose after work, and they wouldn't budge.

i think you have to remove the door panel to replace the door pins.

i was hoping you'd go all renntech! and give me you old interior trim kit to mess around w/... heheh

i mean, wouldn't it be nice to have silver door handles instead of black plastic?

--

i think $165 for the knob isn't too unreasonable. it looks good.

---

$20 for the shifter boot is a bargain. people can get any color they want? or is that price b/c you got the whole interior trim kit?

---

lakers look like they're playing while sleeping... and nj still can't seem to get the winning spirit!

Yes, I'm giving serious thought to the silver door handles. I'm going to have to talk to Bob about them.
Yes, as long as they carry the leather color that you want obviously. I think he told me $20 because it took about a month to finally get a good quality swatch from CA for the boot. Otherwise, it would have been $50-60, which still isn't too bad.

The Nets didn't play defense again last night. I mean, how hard is it to stop a Derek Fischer penetration to the lane? (ask the Laker girls about that one) Of course, I will state again that the officiating could have been better. Even Kobe got some favorable no-calls on charges last night. And yes, it's all sour grapes at this point. Nets did have a great season, though, and can only get better (and make Jefferson the starter instead of wooden plank Van Horn). Martin will be a star next year; he played great last night. Still would have liked to see him whack Shaq at least once in the series.

Tommy,
You've single-handedly been responsible for the reduction of the Smurf population in NJ....now if we could only convince you to 'customize' your CRX in say...BARNEY PURPLE?
Personally, I think the blue leather is unique...if not overkill. But I've still never seen a blue cow...even during the longest mezcal tequila binge on record (1979, WVU)
