Oyster Interior (either cloth/leather)
I was walking around a car lot Sunday just looking at the C230K
( I can't wait till I get mine!!) and I noticed that the Oyster looks really nice, but seems to get dirty easily.
I have 2 kids (16 and 10) and I wonder how it the heck I am going to keep it clean..
Does anyone else out there that has Oyster have any suggestions?
I don't want to have to have the inside detailed every weekend!!

I have Oyster leather and it isn't really hard to keep clean for me because I am the only one driving the car and I don't have young kids. I use the Meguiar's leather cleaner cloths and they work really well. It takes maybe 5 minutes to clean the seats and the dash, so that's not much to do once a week. The mats are another story. They get dirty pretty quick, and, fanatic that I am, I keep up with them with either Spot Shot or just some liquid detergent on a cotton cloth. They still look great after 4 months.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but while Oyster certainly does look pretty, it's white. With two kids, it's a challenging battle. I would say be proactive about cleaning it. That helped a lot with my last car with a similar interior. I cleaned it once a week and it was fine.
But as a note, I have only cleaned the inside of my charcoal interior once.

I've had my cloth oyster interior on my coupe in Laguna Niguel for close to 10 months and it looks fine. Not only do I have a 16 and 11 year old, I assistant coached LN Girls Softball and it doesn't get much dustier than that in Laguna Niguel. That includes having my daughter and sometimes another player in my car after sliding onto bases for 2 hours. Also includes trips to Home Depot picking up bags of dirt, bushes and bark chips during a recent re-landscaping. No special coating or scotchguard.
If you want to see it I go to the dealer for my complimentary car wash every Saturday at 8:30 to 9AM. They keep it clean for me and add a myriad of swirls to my black paint for no extra charge.

I have oyster leather and one 4 year old kid. (Next is on the way
)
When I got the car I told my son NO FOOD or DRINKS inside the car and till now he follows my order. No complaints so far! Occational foot prints on the back of the seat but can be wiped easily with a good cleaner.

Once your heart is set on Oyster, then the choice comes down to leather or cloth. I have always had leather, so that would be my first choice. It's durable, and cleans easy. If I were to get cloth, then I would treat it with a stain repellent such as Scotch Guard. Like NANA posted, I would have a rule of no food/drink in the car.
I have a Java interior which is very light in color as well. The seats are an easy cleanup, however the fabric on the doors (map pockets) seem to get dirty when my feet rub up against it as I swing them in and out of the car (I try to be careful, but it still gets dirty). This is the hardest area to clean, but a little Simple Green and water works well.
Good luck with your choice.

Ditto on the rule: You can't spill what you don't bring into the car. For the inevitable long trips, buy a minivan. If they start to throw the munchies around, remind them that you could strap them to the roof rack. :o

I paid the special order fee to get oyster leather on Magma red, so I am a huge fan of the oyster leather interior. I think it improves the feel of the interior and compliments the pana roof by making the interior feel bigger and lighter.
I have been using the leather cleaner and it has not been a problem keeping the leather clean.
I think it was benzo who suggested clear mats from wall mart and I got them on my drive back from Laguna. They look pretty good. I give them a quick rinse when I wash the car and they have kept the oyster mats in perfect condition.
