Transmission Issues
Hey all, bought a 06 C230 Sport (722.9 7 speed auto) that had a bad turbine speed sensor and was stuck in limp mode. Dropped the valve body, sent the conductor plate off to Circuit Board Medics to be repaired and flashed. Reinstalled, and now getting code 0778, and sometimes 2716, telling me that the electrical check of solenoids Y38Y4 and Y38Y5 have failed. As these codes were not present before the attempted repair, I am wondering if I accidentally switched the positions of these two solenoids while reinstalling, as they are both black tops. Are they interchangeable or do they have different part numbers despite both being blacktops? Thanks

Each valve is bench tested at the factory and the values written into the EEPROM somewhere. I think these things aren't even switchable between transmissions of the same model. I'd try switching them.

Thanks! Ill give it a shot. Was very distracted and rushed putting the plate back on, so theres a very high possibility I switched them around.

I have rebuilt many of these transmission and we have done thousands of conductor plates in the last 18 years. So with confidence I am going to say this............ The trans solenoids in the 722.9 transmission ARE interchangeable. The eeprom contains flow data and adaptations data but do not have anything specific to solenoids. So you can reinstall them in any position. Also, electrical faults for solenoid connection is the second most common problem on these plates. This is why we always recommend to install remanufactured ones from Mercedes.
