I have searched the forum and still didn't find what i needed. I have an 05' c230 SS and just bought a c32 exhaust for a good price, but its from the mid pipe back. I wanted to know if it will bolt right up. It looks like it should but it also looks like the resonator is attached to the exhaust. If it is, then I'll have 2 resonators (if in fact thats what it is) and I don't really want that. Anyone have any answers or experince with this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Guess what the search criteria was?
What a revelation: AMG Exhaust, highlight the w203 forum. Low and behold, there's a AMG exhaust on regular w203 thread!

btw...I'll be merging your thread with it soon.

TO answer my own question since The Overload moved my post, it doesn't bolt right up. The piping is a different size (bigger on the AMG) and a little shorter. So you'd have to take it somewhere unless you are an exhaust guy. So it looks like its going to the shop and I'll have them remove the resonators and run a straight pipe back to the muffler. Should sound better like that anyways. So thanks for the input and a special thats to the forum Czar.......

Look, smart guy, this chassis is 6 years old. No need for sarcastic remarks. Believe me, there are 10 members for every 1 member that appreciate the fact that things are kept organized in this forum, so you are in the minority if you feel like you were "wronged". It's not like your subject matter had not been discussed and there's absolutley no reason you shouldn't bump an old thread for your question.
To answer your question, it depends on what year you have of 230. The piping on the AMG exhaust is maybe 1/4 inch bigger at most, but that makes no difference and won't be bad for your car. It will most likely be better for you to just have the extra resonator removed and straight pipe welded on, as you had indicated. Either way, the muffler mounting points should be the same and this job should be easy for any exhaust shop.
Now, this HAS been discussed in this thread. Have you read through this thread before? It has been here on this forum for at least 1 year.
Now, was that so hard? Some people are just too sensitive.

Well I replied to you PM and like a stated....no where does it say that the amg piping is bigger or that its also a little shorter (for an 2005 SS). From what I've read most everyone takes it to a shop to be put on. Also most of these people take it to the shop for everything so that really didn't help. I get on this site DAILY so even though I dont have a alot of post doesn't mean I 'm a newbie. At least now people will know that the PIPING IS BIGGER and it won't bolt right up the clamp is bigger and the length is shorter.......
Just because I dont agree with you organizing skills, this is a public forum and nothing I've written has broke any rules or anything so for my "warning" or my "so called
" I say

Well the piping is about 1/4 to 3/8 bigger in diameter and the C32 exhaust is about 1" shorter in overall length. Also, the 3 bolt clamp thats used to join the two pieces is bigger on the amg exhaust. Those were the only differences I found.

So I had a chance to look at the performance products catalog, and from what I've gathered, all the models aside from the 2003-2005 230k ss have the secondary cat attached to the mid-pipe. The 2003-2005 230k ss has a straight pipe from where the exhaust piping meets the header manifold, which is a 1 piece design attached to the cat. So Im thinking that the only appropriate way to attach an exhaust designed for a c32 would be to remove the secondary cat on the mid-pipe and have the exhaust shop weld a straight pipe of the same diameter to replace it as most people seem to have done. The only thing that intrigues me is if increasing the piping can help a more heavily modded m271 vs. a close to stock version. Im considering having custom piping welded now.
Remember, this is all just from looking at the pics in the performance products catalog, which shows the exhaust manifolds for almost every model. It doesn't mention the different diameters of the piping, so I cant confirm that. More research necessary for that.

You hit it right on. The secondary cat (at least thats what it looked like) was attached to the muffler so, like you said, the only way to attach it would be to have it custom installed. As far as the sizing of the pipe, I wouldn't be able to give any input on that because mine only has a K&N filter and now the exhaust. However, after I had a chance to run it good today, it does seem (at least to me) to have a little more mid-range power (from like 3200-4700rpm) and seems to accelerate better (like from 80-100mph is quicker then before). Some of the rear bumper will have to be trimmed. Anyways, it sounds nice and I like it !!
Good Luck....

Guys, what's the market price for a used C32 AMG muffler? Gotta make an offer, but don't want to lowball the guy or paying too much ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I was thinking 100-200 USD?! Maybe, Saprissa/Drex can help me out here
I read somewhere here Saprissa got one ONLY for 100 USD?! Is 100-150 USD the market price for this muffler in this forum?
THX.

I was just reading over the thread from page 3 and came to a conclusion that C32 muffler is not good for C230s with 4 cyclinder engine?Back pressure problems can ruin engine ETC..

Yep. What i did was purchase the AMG stamped tips off of ebay and had the curved down tips that are on the stock muffler replaced with straight ones along with the new AMG styled tips, but i was only going for looks.

I was thinking about doing like what you did to you muffler and just remove the resonator to add a little sound, but can I do this without trimming my bumper like you did? I mean you trimmed alot if I'm nt mistaken.

Ok, I've had my C32 muffler on for about 2 months now and I can say, it ain't quite at all. Not sure what setup others are running but I have a 05 C230 sport sedan with the resonator deleted and 2.5" piping and my exhaust is loud. I dont have any way to post a sound clip but it sounds like a strong German 4 cyl. If anyones in Central Florida and wants to hear it, I'll be glad to meet up... Good Luck

I dont know about the back pressure thing. The exhaust piping is almost the same diameter so lack of back pressure probably isnt a big issue. I haven't had any problems with my car since I put it on and unless you plan on keeping it forever then I wouldnt worry about it. And really, whats an exhaust going to ruin ??? The only thing I might suggest is the resonator. What I mean is that if you want it loud(er) then remove it, but if you are worried about the lack of back pressure then leave it on. I cant comment on the sound with it on but I would think that should eliminate any lack of back pressure problems since like I said before the piping diameter is close in size.
