The muffler sucks?...ROFL!...think about it...it's a muffler made to silence an engine with more output than yours,so on your car it has less airflow and exhaust noise to contend with than it was designed for.DUH!

If you want to increase the "loudness of the muffler" ,maybe you should go talk to these guys...

everyone that I have met told me that AMG muffler is pretty quiet. You should have done a search on this forum. People wanting louder usually go with BRabus, Remus, etc.

unless you have the C32 of course. once the resonator if off, the sound is nice and deep.

But we have our first child on the way in November and trying to remodel house. So mods are down on the priority list and will sink to depths unknown after my son is born. Which would be fine with my wife.
Thank you for the compliment. I had a fairlady emblem on the back and can you believe it was stolen

I have an 98 clk 200 komp with the AMG muffler and at the beginning when it was installed it maked almost the same noise as the stock one, but after some 0000 miles it sounds better.

Now, with 87000 miles its doing much more noise!!! ( maybe a lot, its my father working car) :p

Q's for those who have added AMG exhaust...

The bodyshop is telling me that the AMG muffler can is larger than the OEM muffler on my C230 and may scrape often because it will be lower by about 1.5 inches. Is this even something I should be worried about, or is it not a big deal? Also, my understanding is that the pipe going to the AMG muffler is 3 inches, but the ones on non-AMG's is 2.75 inches. Is this an easy enough thing for a muffler shop to modify? Anything else I should know about? Thanks in advance!

hi, I've posted quite a bit on this topic, although my personal situation involves a COUPE not a SEDAN. However, I can tell you this... if you install an AMG C32 muffler which is designed for a 3.2L V6 engine and air flow (thus the larger diameter of piping), on your C230K 4-cylinder supercharged engine configuration, you will have back-flow problems, that could eventually lead to greater engine problems. If you fit smaller diameter piping but keep the AMG muffler, that will cause problems too, because it was not designed for less quantity of air flow. Talk to any of the MB Tuner shops listed throughout these forums, for real technical explanations, and potential damage that non-equalized exhaust set ups can cause. An AMG C32 exhaust will work fine on a C320 V6 ( Sedan & Coupe issues aside). Sedan exhausts are longer than Coupe exhausts, and 3.2L 6cyl exhausts are thicker than 1.8L 4cyl exhausts.

so am I better off just cutting the tips off the AMG exhaust and having them welded on my muffler?
