'03 C240 (the Mrs daily commute)
Since delivery of my 2002 C320, I have had a subtle rattle only vaguely located to the front passenger area. It was not present all the time nor was it associated with any speed or road condition. After my most recent B service this rattle became most pronounced. I returned to the dealer to question (AKA, WTF). The rattle was so noticeable now that it was very loud both inside and outside the car. It turned out to be the catalytic coverter, which according to the dealer, is a known problem in the C Class (but mostly the ML).
Very quiet now AND it was covered under warranty. . .

2002 C320 Sport Wagon
OK. Here's a new one. About a year ago, I dropped a peanut M&M which slipped between the driver's seat and console and seems to have lodged in one of the seat tracks. On short radius turns and steep inclines/declines, it rolls down the track and sounds like a pin ball machine. Cannot see it or access it. Any ideas?

2002 C230 Kompressor, Capri Blue
Rattle under front end!!!!
I just purchased a 2002 c230 kompressor with 18363 miles. I noticed, when driving home, that there is a slight rattle somewhere in the front end. It usually is more pronouced when hitting a bump etc. When driving on the highway, its pretty quiet, except for the supercharged 4 banger No warrantee in the car. I am actually looking for some type of warrantee extension. The car only has $18k miles on it for petes sake.

Just so everyone knows, I've un-stickied this because it is already in the DIY / AFTERMARKET MOD STICKY, in case you're looking for it.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I'm now hearing rattling sound coming form the rear passenger. It happens when I'm just driving but very intermittent. Going over bumbs doesn't seem to make it happen. When it comes on it sounds like something in the tire hitting the fender well. Anyone have any clue what it could be?

If anyone else is hearing rattle in the speaker, I was able to remedy mine by putting a piece of paper in between the plastic grill and the rear dash board that it's attached to.

EDIT: Was able to fix it. The tech that fixed my windshield didn't lign up the clips that holds the rear part of the strip.

C270 Cdi sport edition 2005
Have search the forum for this one and found nothing so hopefully someone will be able to help (seen some good other stuff ref ticking though). Just bought a 2nd hand C270 sport edition 3 weeks ago, first MB and love it. It has just started a ticking noise (sounds like behind dash) which does not increase with speed and is audible between tick-over and 2000 rpm - about three ticks per second. It does it when stationary and moving, but stops when cornering or applying brake. Apart from the obvious like 'it is the brakes', which part? Car is still under dealer warranty so would help to know what I am talking about.

2002 C200 Kompressor Elegance MY03
Heres my fix:
1. Sell your south african built crap and never by a w203 again.
2. Buy a different Mercedes.
I'm already in progress of these two :P Completely fixes the rattles ahahha
Seriously though I've just had enough with the rattles and squeaks, it just craps me to tears, and in my mind Mercedes is dead to me, I'm downgrading to a w124. I have already seen threads with people complaining about squeaks from w204's. Need I say more.
Also heres proof of 204 rattle issues:

let the dismantling begin ahhaha

Vibrating sound at speed
Hi all,
I have a C200 that has just started making a constant vibrating/humming noise when the car is moving. The noise sounds like it is coming from somewhere in the centre console. It sounds slightly louder if I remove the ash tray or open up the centre console armrest.
Other information:
- Seems to be coming from the passenger side (right hand drive car)
- Not the ticking noise from the dash - I have already had that
- Only happens when the car ir moving
- Does vibrate more/less when car is going faster/slower
- Handling of car does not appear to be affected
- Does not occur when car is still and engine is revved
- Becomes slightly quiter when turning a corner
- Cannot hear noise outside of car i.e with Window down
- Checked underneath vehicle and nothing seems loose. I did bend back part of the heat shield around the exhaust but this made no difference
After searching the forums I have seen it could possibly be one of:
- footwell flap
- purge valve
- stepper motor (but there is no clicking sound)
I was hoping someone might have some further ideas before I start pulling the car apart.
Thanks.

2006 C230 Ash/Capri Manual
rattling when shutting car off 06 c230 manual and other noises
I haven't been able to locate this problem. My car is fairly quiet most of the time except for three intermittent noises.
1. I noticed a pretty loud rattle when I shut the car off. It happens almost every time I shut it off and it sounds like it is coming from the lower engine compartment. I only saw one other post that was similar from an 06 owner who said they had a cat issue. Can someone elaborate on the cat issues or link to it if already discussed? That might be it here to, but I only hear it when shutting off the engine and sometimes if it's quiet I also hear it when going slow and pushing in the clutch. Been around a long time. I don't hear it when going over bumps.
2. When slowing down to a stop sign/light and putting the car in 1st to prepare to go again, there is a faint whining sound that I can also feel slightly in the shift knob. It's more severe the faster I'm going when putting the car in gear. Not sure what this is, but it's been there forever and doesn't get worse. I have had mechanics look into 1 and 2 with no luck.
3. This one must have to do with the new slotted Zimmerman rotors I had installed in the rear. Every time I brake there is a slight sound similar to having a playing card taped to your bike frame to hit the tire spokes. I'm thinking the rear pads are made for these rotors. Anyone else with this experience?
I think this car has been very solid and I'm just **** about these noises, so any help would be appreciated.
