Did you get a reputable brand fuel filter? Aftermarket fuel filters are known for causing problems. I would only use the dealer or Mahle/Knect KL-82 filters.
I assume your car uses the same fuel filter as mine (C230). The filter has a built in pressure relief valve, which keeps the filter at maximum 55psi. Aftermarket filters are known to have faulty valves, which may explain your low pressure.
Of course the other option is to look at the fuel pump. Did you reconnect all the hoses correctly? As in the hoses inside the tank, between the L and R sides.

i got the cheapest fuel filter from oreillys lol this car was junk before this. whoever owned it did not take care of it. ive looked at the assembly a couple times to make sure those top and bottom hoses and the sensor are attached

That might be your problem.
Get an OEM or OE one from FCP Euro or Rockauto.
If the car was junk before, make sure to check everything.
My friend has been having this issue on his 99 Maxima, I'll let you know what his issue is once we fix it.
What he does is once he starts the car he mashes on the throttle to keep it alive and then it runs fine.
Try that.
