2005 C230 Sport Sedan w/Automatic
My car was bleeding.

Well I came home this past Wednesday and I noticed a spot of liquid on the garage floor. I looked under the car (2005 C230 Sports Sedan w/2100 miles) and saw what looked like blood dripping from underneath. You guessed it. I experienced the transmission leak that seems to be common with the 2005 C-Class. I called my dealership and brought the car in this morning. I brought some printouts from this forum, which discussed the problem, to the dealership in case they were not familiar with the issue. It was not necessary. My service advisor was very familiar with the problem. It took them about ½ an hour to fix the leak and wash the car. In case anyone is interested, here is what was listed on my invoice:

“Found trans electrical plug leaking. Replaced O-rings & modified old plug per P-B-27.00 ”

Does anyone know what “P-B-27.00” refers to? I imagine it is some sort of Mercedes bulletin. I’ll monitor the car to make sure the leak is fixed. I just thought I’d post my experience for others to read.

C230 K
the same thing happened to my wife's 2004.5 C230K..
Had the car towed to the dealership...the service advicer said he saw most of this case happens on 03 or before C-class and he also said that Mercedes had a new parts for that. However, it still happened to my wife's 2004 and ur 2005...

Yep, I did. It past A'ok. Don't know if my dealer checked for this specific prob or not....the way they seem to be so far, I'm going with "no." I'm at 5300 miles.

Are you serious?? Just stop and think about what exactly will happen when all your TRANSMISSION fluid leaks out.

2005 C230 Sport Sedan w/Automatic
To all,

I should've specified that I have an automatic. Also, I had brought my car in for its first complimentary checkup about 300 miles ago. Everything was normal at that time.

Its a known issue on 05 model w203's.

The dealer will replace the faulty o-ring and away you go. (mine's had this done already as well.)

The other small issue w/ 05's is the rattle that comes from the trunk release button if you have music w/ bass. Again the dealer will replace and insulate the switch and problem solved.

Is "P-B 27.00" the service bulletin for this? If so, I will just make sure to inform the dealer at my first service A to do this, thanks.

We should compile a list of Service Bulletins for '05's, anyone know of any others?

hmmm... if this is a common problem, i wonder why there isn't a recall campaign to address the problem .

I dont think they feel its serious enough for a recall, its more of a TSB, so if a car comes in w/ this symptom they know what to do to fix it.

My_C55,

I too have the rattle from the trunk release switch. Do you know if they have to take the door panel apart to fix it. I'm concerned that they might introduce some other rattle when they fix the button.

I dont know if they have to take the whole door panel off. I dont think so, I'm pretty sure that the window/trunk module pops off

Either way even if they did take off the panel for me it works:
Before = RATTLE... After = Silence!

Just tell them its a common issue and that they need to replace and insulate the switch.
