Brake booster line

Well, it finally happened. I broke my brake booster line trying to get my oil filter out.
Does the plastic part attached to the hose have a function besides redirecting the hose 90 degrees or can I just replace with some vacuum hose?

There may be some sort of check valve function, but it should be running vacuum the entire time.

It might be easier to just buy a used part off a wrecker or online. Keep in mind that there are several versions of this thing (typical MB ). Call your local dealer with your VIN to confirm the correct PN.

Maybe easier, but have you seen the price? The only one I see on line is $280. Hopefully a junkyard can do better.

If I can put a check valve on a line that may be a cheaper way to go too. If that’s all it needs. Can anyone confirm?

Remove elbow. Blow and suck through one opening. If you can do both, then no check valve, and I would think a simple 90 degree elbow in the same size would work. If there's a check valve, then you can either buy as mentioned above, or just get a simple check valve equipped elbow or straight piece and make that work.

I would try fixing it with JB Weld plastic bonder but I already have some. I recently used it twice on a bumper bracket and on a windshield wiper cover. The stuff cures hard like plastic, just has to be able to stick to whatever its put on. Not sure what that hose material is.

That plastic 90-degree elbow isn’t just a guide it’s a check valve to maintain vacuum. Don’t skip it or bypass with plain hose, or your brake assist could get weak. Get the proper replacement line or at least a matching vacuum check valve. Cheap fix now beats sketchy brakes later.

But sketchy brakes make driving the car more... lively? Entertaining? Adrenaline charged?

Remove both pieces, tap both holes and connect them with a threaded brass coupler. Then soak them *****es with JB Weld.

There should be a part# stamped on the hose. I looked around and seems that connector is pretty specific and not finding it on other models. My thinking was just find any used hose with that connector and replace it. I see arrows on that connector so assuming it is a check valve, probably says "motor" in the direction of the arrows. The check valve on my M272 engine brake booster is at the booster not at the vacuum pump.

I was saying JB weld it in the mean time while a replacement can be found. Its under vacuum so its not like it will blow apart.
