As the days pass, I'm getting more upset about car shopping. The cars I find that I like the outside, I don't like how it is on the inside. The cars I find that I like the inside, I don't like the outside. I like the Audi a4, but the inside SUCKS. I like the BMW 3 series, but that inside SUCKS as well. I became really spoiled with my C240 “luxury model”. The inside, to me, really looked great. What sold me on it was the key. I really thought the remote, style key was great. And the computer between the speedometer really was inventive. While the outside was perfect. I loved blinding oncoming traffic with my bright headlights.
So what do you people think of the Mercury Montego (sister car to the Ford Five hundred) or the Mitsubishi Gallant? Mercury Montego is a grandma/grandpa car, but also reminds me a lot like the C240. The Mitsubishi Gallant looks ugly but the inside with the blue lights look cool. I just wish I could take out a loan for 10 grand so that I could buy a new C230, C240, or C320. Since I have bad credit, I stick with cash only when buying a car. I even am looking at trucks. Since I loaded my C240 with mulch and big stones, I am thinking about just buying a truck. LOL
I'm running around with my head cut off and 23 grand in my pocket. haha

Here's your chance to rebuild your credit. If you put some big change down, most banks will give you the loan.
The 500/Montego are pathetic. Underpowered, and cheap looking interiors. I have to wonder what ford was thinking. Why does your car have to be brand new?
If youre strictly hauling stuff, the new Dodge Dakota can be had with a V8 for around 20K, not bad at all, and its all new. Not a bad little truck if you ask me. Personally, Ive never like hauling **** in new cars or trucks. Too worried about getting a scratch
That's why Ive got my old beater Jeep. Always starts. Looks a little rough after so many years and 200K, but who cares. Looking good is what the Benz is for. Heck, buy a used truck, and get a car later when youve got more cash.
Big mistake Bro!!!! U can buy a used one for alot less than 230000. You will never be happy with that pontiac. U see once u own an MB, you will never wonna drive anything else !!! Do not make this mistake i sold my BMW for a Toyota !!!.

rockintunes,
You think the A4 interior sucks? WOW! I think the A4 is one of the nicest looking and highest quality interiors I have sat in. However I think the outside is bland and too VW like. As for the 3 series the exterior looks really nice, but I agree the interior is boring. But since its the last year of the E46 you can get a killer deal on one. A family member is looking into one moderately eqipped. Sticker is 34,000 and if you bargain hard you can maybe get it for about 30,000 even. Im surprised even though its the last year the 3 series is still selling pretty well though. If you can stay german, you will be more satisfied with it.

The 3.5L pushrod engine from all accounts is very quiet, and accellerates on par with the Toyota Camry V6, which has more HP. I'm not trying to say the car is in the same class with MB, but I don't think its all that bad either. OTOH, the C240 is built in Brazil, and there's plenty of poor quality experiences on these pages to make you think twice before you put the C240 up on a pedestal.

,I haven't been to a Pontiac dealer since, hmmm... uh, ever (I got my info from C&D and Automobile). Only because I'll buy a used Toyota before I buy a GM product. I don't think you can expect the same level of quality/fit/finish in a Pontiac (18k base G6) as in a Saab (27k base 9-3).

What do you think about brand new SUBARU LEGACY?
Or maybe with a little mileage on it >>> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...513936515&rd=1
But what I dont understand is why you dont want to buy used MERCEDES-BENZ, this is very weird!!!!! Just buy 2 years old MB and be happy!!!!
It will be really stupid to buy a TRUCK instead of used MERCEDES! Just think about it>>> 2 YEARS OLD MERCEDES = NEW TRUCK or NEW PONTIAC G6 ?
Go for MB!!!!

I try to base my opinions on more than what's in the pages of some autorag. If we all bought based on what was written, we'd never buy Benzos. They get slammed constantly for not being as hardcore as the BMW, not as cheap as the Honda, er Acura, nor as reliable as Lexus. Only because I'll buy a used Toyota before I buy a GM product.

The point I was trying to make is that the same engineering that went in to designing the Saab is still in G6. And probably a lot of the same suppliers are building components for both cars. For the cash, I think its a good car. Nice styling too. I'm sure I'll end up behind the wheel of one eventually as a rental for a work trip. Won't miss the Grand Ams!

My parents have a 91 Corolla with 192k on the original engine. Just routine oil changes and timing belts every 60k. It still returns 26mpg, is pretty peppy, and the AC blows colder than their 96 Maxima. I imagine a Toyota V6 would be engineered to the same standards.

With the deep discounts, rebates and low APR, it may be a good deal. Drive it off the lot, and watch the resale value drop like a boat anchor.
Please take everything I post with a grain of salt. Everything is IMHO. YMMV.
Outland, you brought up some good points. I just read the review of the Cobalt - that's a domestic I may consider.
