In the process of pulling the bumper off to get to a wiper fluid bottle that was broken I noticed my headlights are completely cooked (stuff rattling around inside and wiring on the inside completely turned to dust). Ill be getting new ones but Im not able to tell from the pictures on the new ones if they include the little rubber gasket thing (picture included). If anyone knows whether or not new headlights would come with that bit/a brand that does include them/where i could get that part separately that would be great. Another thing i noticed is that my intercooler is absolutely full of crap from the road. Am i able to take that out without pulling the whole radiator? I cant find any documentation on removing just the inter cooler anywhere online and dont have acess to my computer with WIS on it at the moment. Thanks for any tips that may come my way as always. I appreciate the ongoing help in keeping my car alive
Ive figured out how to get the intercooler off. Essentially once you have the bumper and lower skid plate/engine under cover off you just need to pop the clips off on each side of the hose then press up on the little tab on the bottom part of the mount of the intercooler. After that clip is lifted up you can pull the bottom of the intercooler up and out and push down on the top mount with a screwdriver and it should pop out. Included are pictures of the mounting points on the car and the intercooler to help anyone else who needs to do this understand how it comes out. having spent a big of the day looking, I think my situation is even worse than I expected. I cant find any replacement headlights that arent 600$ each from mercedes. If anyone knows of other options I would be very happy as spending 1200$ on a car i paid 2500 for is probably not gonna happen
Ive been looking for a used set all day, I just need them to work tbh i dont even care if the lens is ugly rn. I cant even find a used set on ebay, just one light and its in europe. Im probably going to pull the light apart before I find a used set and make this a problem for a future me
the headlights for my model arent w203... the headlights for the c230 coupe are different than the headlights for all the other c class sedans. the body code for the coupe isnt even w203 technically, its CL203
I have already thoroughly looked on ebay, of all the ones I see in that link only one of them might fit and its BiX and not halogen. And even that one isnt listing that its for my year of car. I have seen quite a few listings through the day that are just wrongly listing a sedan assembly as coupe and sedan or coupe. I tried searching the part number of the thing I need on ebay as well, and thats the only way i found one thats definitely right. And it was just one and across the ocean. Ive already taken my lights apart and fixed the wiring so Ive bought myself the time to find a junkyard car. i reckon that will be easier and cheaper than trying to buy them online used. That being said if theres someone here who knows about some where theyre for sale and actually the right ones then Id still appreciate the info
