Coilover Front Spacer A must ?

hi all, i am about to buy a set of coilovers, i am thinking Bilstein PSS9, or KW or Carlsson.

i've been reading PSS9 PDF manual, it says wheel spacers MUST be used for the front

the Carlsson says spacers MAYBE required

The KW, ermm its all in german, i can't read...ahahha

2003 C-Class Sportcoupe
I have KW V1 coilovers; had to buy H&R 5mm Trak + spacers in the front in order to drop the front, or the tires wouldn't be able to clear the top of the coilover springs. I also put spacers on the back because I thought increasing the wheel distance in just the front might be bad for handling. BTW, I have a 2003 C320 coupe. In your case, I think it might also depend the width of your tires in the front. I have 8.5" front, 9.5" rear SSR GT3.

Depend on your offset, width and diameter of the wheels, mine is 19x8 ET37 and i need whopping 15mm spacer to clear the spring, i guess tyre brand will make a difference too, some are stretch some don't.

Unless u planning to slam it, you won't need it for the meantime. I used to be able to lower it until 3 finger gap without a spacer with stock offset. Make sure u tell the immigration it's a used item and cost less than 400 bucks.
So which coilover you getting??

i think the KW save my self some $$$, i've also been looking into spacers, W0n6_3d4n where did u get yours ?

i remeber last time when i wanted to get some rims for the car, the shop said it didn't have the right offset, so i asked them if i could put spacers on it, but they didn't recommand it....and said it would be dangerous, and cause problems

now...if i put spacers on stock rims woudln't that upset the balance ??? and also the offset ??

btw W0n6_3d4n u said 3 fingers gap was that with your 19' ? or stock ?

W0n6_3d4n u wear glasses ? friends seen u at uni i think

I get my spacer from Harding European in Rocklea, a bit overpriced IMO. Cost me AUS$300 bucks, complete with all the bolts. Well spacer is still in the grey area, however if u buy a hubcentric one (which the one i use, H&R of course) it should be fine.

Dunno about the balance but I used to use spacer with my stock wheels for three months(front only), no problem at all.
3 finger gap without spacer with my 19 rims. Haven't try with the stock one, but i guess it would be the same as my 19 has the same offset as stock.

I say lower your car with the coilover to the limit where it doesn't rub the spring, don't buy spacer, instead buy a wheels with the correct offset later on.

Yeah i wear glasses all the time, who's your friend?? might recognise his car hehehe.

300$AUD is = 233$USD
Not bad, spacers for my LS400 are around 180$USD for a pair.

2320$AUD = 1805$USD
1520$AUD = 1182$USD

Lexus IS has very ****ty back end no grip compared to our Merc "i think"

but i have to say its a good car, cause i didn't get injured or just got lucky

the body shell or whatever u call it, is pretty strong, only got a sore neck and shoulder for a few days, but the side air bag is too small, i didn't realise it was there untill i saw white smoke, i thogut the car went up on fire for a start, untill i looked around and found the little air bag......

man it sure is F*ck. I used to own early year IS200, handling quite good but the suspension set up is crap, too much rebound, can't really 'trust' the car during hard cornering. Wat is he getting?? Facelifted C class is the way to go hehehe.
My brother used to roll sideways 3 series once but it was fixable, cost around 20g but.
