Yes, it's included. The X-type is a nice car and you can get some great lease deals on them compared to the C.

Agreed! Although I have posted my dislike of the X-type in other threads (only because it resembles Ford too much for my taste, but then again, that's why I bought the MB), there are some great deals out there! And if Maint. is included like MB, then all the better.

NTSB just released crash data on X-Type that made the nat'l news last week. Crashworthiness not so good for X-type... rated one of the worst. But I wouldn't advocate buying (or not) based on whether you live through an accident. Just info to add to your other considerations.

Do you suppose the great lease deals are because Jaguar is having trouble selling them? IMO, that's usually the case.

Yes it is. Most of the X-types I saw months ago are still on the dealers lots. Think about it. Have you really seen a lot of them on the road ?

i wouldn't say that...cuz i haven't seen a lot of C-coupe around as well...Jag always have some kind of special deal for every model of their cars.

Isn't that funny because the insurance institute for highway safety gave the X-type it's highest rating of Good just like the C-class. This is like when I got an F150 for my daughter, the NHTSB gave it 5 stars but the more stringent IIHS gave it one of it's worst ratings. The Toyota Tundra, which is what my daughter wanted got poor ratings of 2 stars on the NHTSB crash test so we didn't want to buy it. A month later the IIHS said it's one of the safest trucks. Arghhhhh! Who do you believe?

crash tests

Forget the US crash tests - they are ALL too easy.

For REAL, MEANINGFUL results, see www.euroncap.com.

For a laugh, check out the frontal collision results for the last generation Chrysler minivan. Zero points. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

However (unfortunately for some) they don't test Bubba-mobiles like pickups over there.

The safest sedan to date is the .......wait for it........ Renault Laguna, five stars. The C sedan rates 4 stars, also quite good. Later this month a pile of new test results will be published there. Apparently another car has just rated five stars.

That's exactly why. Was in the WSJ. Ford is in a quandry because they are having a hard time moving the X-Type (more people than you might expect can see its pedestrian background and extensive use of low level Ford parts), but it is "unseemly" to have big "SALE" ads in the papers. It is better from a PR perspective to give the cars away with low lease payments - doesn't seem so desperate. At least that what the Ford marketers think - as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Yeah, the "great lease deals" in my area revealed a 32k mileage cap for a 39 month lease in the fine print of the newspaper ad. If it was as much fun to drive as a C230K Sportscoupe, that would definitely be not enough...

Just test-drive the two back to back and tell me which one has more bounce to the ounce. The Jag is a heavy car - you need at least the 3.0 Litre engine, and then it's no comparison, what with the much higher price.

I don't know for sure if they are selling to plan, but I DO see a lot of them on the road. At least compared to the C Coupe or the Sedan for that matter.

As far as the great lease deals go, I'm sure that "selling below plan" is not the only reasons that these are offered (although I'm sure it's the most used reason).

There always seems to be a "catch" with great deals. Even when all of the companies were offering 0% financing, some were only for 36 months or shorter, and then only if you had excellent credit.

I think you meant to say you have seen a lot of X-types at the SIDE of the road. Get what I mean ?

i see a lot of x-types also now. i thought that they weren't selling well, but checking out their numbers and they're pretty impressive. more than the coupe at least. so i think it is a successfully selling car.

i'd also recommend the 3.0l version.

Its not that successful considering the sales targets they had in mind. The only way dealers are able to move these is through cheap leasing deals. And Jaguar has traditionally had a problem with reselling cars after the lease expires. Seems nobody wants a used Jaguar. They have quite a way to go to establishing themselves as a brand that holds its value.

Talk about cheap leasing ads. My two closests dealers offered $279/mo and $299/mo in newspaper ads for the coupe. Personally I prefer to own unless it's some crazy lease where it's so cheap you can't go wrong.

But how much down?

A lease at $199 can be a bad deal if they require $20,000 down.
