If you want a fast C Class, you have to get the AMG. All C Classes are slow. Don't spend money making a slow car quicker, just buy a fast one to begin with.

How many times do I have to post this simple theory??

Well, not everyone have $60,000 to get an AMG.

and besides, we are only spending a couple of $1000 to get a little bit more performance out of it. not a couple of $10,000

put a bigazz AMG sticker on your front windshield, that alone will increase 10-20 hp...

if i got the C55 (or M3 since i prefer it over the AMG), i'd be on a tight budget with paying mortgages and expenses on 2 homes. i'm gonna do the ECU and S/C pulley on my car and i think i'll be ok with the performance of my car. it's decent now, but i'd like another 20 horses or so. i got roughly $4,500 off sticker on my 05' C230k SS and for slightly under $30k, it's a hard car to turn down. the looks of this car is what i really wanted and picking up an almost identical looking AMG for half the cost suits me just fine

Yeah but if you are going to waste 10K-20K moding it up just get the C55. It haves all the bells and whistles you need. Better yet if you cant get that get an C32

What's fast anyway? On track I can drive my 200hp C230 around cars with double the power...

All C Classes are slow? Is a CLK 320 faster than a C 320??? WTF?

Middle picture of my sig, I am about to pass a 500 HP Factory 5 race car, and I go on to pass the C32 AMG in front of it... I've posted the vid, search on "VIR Videos"

I love the new cars looks and handling as well as the attention factor, but the car just feels like it dies after 80 mph and struggles to get to 100. Now in it's defense I did put an upsolute chip in the 99 2.3 l version and that is probably why I notice the difference with the new one so much. Don't get me wrong though off the line this car has definite heart especially using the manumatic, which I am still trying to master. However, I recently raced some cheap saturn with a very loud muffler. I assume these cars are also four cylinders and off the line I killed the dude. But by 80mph it's almost as if my car would not go faster..... WTF. If it wasn't for the end of the straightaway that saturn may have caught up to me. I don't usually race, especially cheapos like that, but he asked for it- sucka! lol

Now I know all about the kleemans and the renntechs and I am very well read around this forum especially about the c class. I've also driven every single amg c class except the current c55 badboy. I want to chip this little 1.8 but I do not want to be dissappointed with the results. Has anyone done any mods to this engine at cheap prices that were worth it? Looking to spend under 2000 overall and it's a lease so mods need to be conspicuous if I should even do it at all.

I am having regrets as far as cars performance guys!!!! help! Other contenders I almost bought were 02 C32 amg 17000 miles, but involved in accident, 04 g35 coupe, bmw 330- great ride, but mb fan and outdated style, and a 99 clk 55 amg too much money. So it was really between this car and the g35 coupe which I love, but its still a nissan rebadged and mb Rockkkkkks! Oh and I also considered a c43, but outdated and felt like I had the same car although with a missle rocket attatched to it's ***, lol. ANy advice ?
Though this seems a dead issue, you have gone from the 2.3 to the 1.8... it just isn't the same. I know this isn't 2002 and I know most owners around here are now driving the 1.8s. You don't understand how different the two motors are. The loss of torque in the 1.8 makes it seem like a lady finger being compared to a block buster. IMHO

i believe ECU and pulleys will be around $1,500. i looked at the C32 but could never get myself into a used car, especially a benz w/ kompressor. i love bmw and MB, but they're not the most reliable cars. i personally know many people who have had problems with both, most family members. one of the reasons they and myself like to lease.

You have to be above 3000 Rpm otherwise the car sucks wind

When i am going 75+mph and need to accelerate I always downshift to 5th otherwise the car has no go.

230k

This is what i have but yet to install. The car only has 600 miles and I came from a modified Audi A4 putting out 206HP to all 4 wheels so I can relate to the c230k being slow.
Eismann Exhaust(Dont know if its spelled right) 830.00
Supersprint available for just 490.00 at Bekkers
Rentech pully and ecu kit $1648 +2lbs boost
The advantage to the 230K over the 240 is the availability to make more hP with mods. When installed they are claiming 30-40 more HP. Very difficult to make more power out of a v-6 without spending a lot of cash. C230k much easier due to the the supercharger. On the audi forums it seems the folks are much more helfull. This guy just asked how to make a little more power with his car. The answer= Pulley kit-ecu reflash-exhaust-header=240-250! Beats c240 for far less money!

yup... the new v6, just added more power, but the supercharge + lighter weight of the engine beat the 06 by less than a second, if im not mistaken....

the 99 C230k is a little more than 1 second faster than the 06 C230SS going from 0-60.

After testing ever almost single car around the $30-35k in the market today. I still enjoy driving my '99. ( with the exception of the new lexus IS and the bmw 325i, and the acura TL )

Im feeling like my 05 C230 has become slow due to the Kompressor Supercharger loss of power. Im checking it into the dealer. Hopefully I can get a replacement since the car is still under warranty.
