Do you turn of ESP by putting it in Dyno mode, or just by pressing the button?

I use the button so I still have ABS.

Actually this is the part of rear wheel drive cars that is most perplexing and most dangerous. Depending on your speed and amount of oversteer backing off the throttle can be disastrous. For some reason which I can not explain (I think it's the built in understeer) at low speeds 40 to 60 mph when you begin to feel the rear end drift lifting of the throttle brings the rear end back in. However if you do the same thing in a full oversteer induced turn you will lose the car. When you lift of the throttle you are transferring weight from the rear of the car to the front, this is the same thing that causes oversteer, loss of grip in the back. I went to a rally course not long ago (April) and the way we maintained car control on a rear wheel drive in the skidpad was:

1) Line up the apex
2) Throttle back 10 to 15% do not lift of completely (Transfer Weight Forward)
3) Enter Steering correction (Begin Turn and Induce oversteer)
4) Brake as neccesary to transfer more weight forward and complete the oversteer turn (Left Foot without releasing throttle).
5) Keep your eyes on your line of sight (were you want to go).
6) Countersteer in the direction of your line of sight
7) Throttle forward to original position plus 10% (Transfer Weight to the Rear)
8) Line up you next apex

In every case decreasing the throttle while in oversteer caused the vehicle to generate more oversteer and you ended up in the boonies. IMHO I would always countersteer and throttle forward slightly.

Sure, any NY cabbie can do that! Watch them closely, they can thread a Crown Vic at high speeds through city traffic better than any Nascar driver.
