Turn Headlights on and all the instrument lights go dim?

Turn Headlights on and all the instrument lights go dim?
On my 2004 c320, As soon as the headlights go on the radio, heater controls, dashboard go dim, to the point where at night you don't realize their on?

That is the way it should be. From your description it looks like you have the Auto headlights on, so when it is dark enough for the car to turn on the headlights on, it also dims down all the instrument lights (which is not linked to the headlight control, BTW). It is done on purpose, as the human eye adapts to low light conditions at night (or when it is dark, in general) and does not need as much contrast as in daylight.

Man you guys just hawk on someone for a "dumb" question. I am not shy, I'll tell you....I know very little about the car, didn't know where the dimmer switch was, hence why I asked the question. But on the other hand I also own a 9 sec Mustang that I built from the ground up, don't let the little questions fool you.
