Mercedes introduces new V6 gasoline lineup
Mercedes is now introducing a new V6-gasoline lineup in Germany and Europe.
They are: C230 V6 with 204 hp Available in all C-class models
C280 V6 with 231 hp Available in all models except sportcoupe
C350 V6 with 272 hp Available in all C-class models
The C230 (2,5 liter) replaces the C230 Kompressor, the C280 (3,0 liter) replaces the C240 and the C350 (3,5 liter) replaces the C320. Prices are said to stay identical to the old models. More power for the same amount of money,a good deal if you ask me.
Here are the German prices:
C230 V6 sedan: 32.248 Euros
C280 V6 sedan: 33.408 Euros
C350 V6 sedan: 39.498 Euros
C230 V6 wagon: 33.988 Euros
C280 V6 wagon: 35.148 Euros
C350 V6 wagon: 41.238 Euros
C230 V6 sportcoupe: 30.740 Euros
C350 V6 sportcoupe: 34.162 Euros

There will be no more superchargers anymore. Even the AMGs will all be N/A V8s I believe.

I rules out the E class as to me it is too little car for too much $$. There is not 15-20+K of improvement over a C to justify that kind of difference. I can can think of is "they are shafting people because they can". I'll pass and consider the C350 which shold have nearly the same power to weight ratio as the E500, but w/ probably 50% better gas mileage.

Lets see. Is the MSRP the price or is it MSRP plus Salestax prior to paying the rest of the fees/taxes?

Of interest is that the new C230 will in fact be slower than the current C230 kompressor. Perhaps it is not such a worthy successor after all.
0 - 100 for the V6 is 8.4 for the manual and ??8.9 for 7 speed auto (I thought the new 7 speed transmission was supposed to be at least as quick as if not quicker than the manual).
0-100 for the current C230 is 8.1 (not sure if this is manual or auto)
Fuel consumption is also up.
The C280s and C350s do seem to be improvements over the current C240s and C320s though with significant improvements in acceleration and fuel economy.
For some reason Mercedes have never brought the C230 sedans to AUstralia and I certainly hope they don't bring the new one or our C180s and C200s will plummet in value!

MBUSA.com:
2005 C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan
Acceleration 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds (manual), 7.5 seconds (automatic)
and it's actually 6.8 seconds manual according to my own testing :v
The figure that I quoted came straight out of the brochure which is distributed here and which I presume are European based specs. THat is quite a significant difference though. Must be that AMG body kit.
Anyway that just widens the performance gap between the new V6 C230 and the current one.
