Quit whining about the new C-Class

I have never seen so many complaints about a car very few people on this forum has seen. This is rivaling most of the Audi boards I am on, and we actually have something to complain about... like my airbag light that won't stay off and abs-controllers failing.

Until you see and drive, give MB the benefit of the doubt. The avantgaurde look is beautiful to me, interior could be better but I'm not going to write the car off as a piece of junk that is going to bankrupt Mercedes.

Excellent board

I agree. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Go and build your own car.

The engine choices suck. Do you have to see the car in person to whine about that?

I think they are ok. What would be a better choice in engines.

I think this car is a car you'll love more as time goes by

I think the engine choices are sufficient but at least give the option of a clutch on the sport models.

There is always lots of whining for a new model--whenever something threatens what we are used to. However, with this car, the pictures are not great...but I agree we cannot completely write it off until we see it in person. I can't wait to see it at the NY Auto Show later this week and finally get to make an opinion in person. I know I hated the W221 S-Class until the first time I sat in one and then I instantly wanted one.

I really do suggest though, that if after it comes out and there are things we are unhappy with (such as manual only on C300 model) you really should put your concerns together in a letter (not a nasty one) to the C-Class person at MBUSA. Maybe I am too optimisitic or naive but I think that if enough people show interest enough to write to them expressing what they want to see in future models, they would be crazy to ignore it.

You mean auto only?

I'm going to the auto show on the 14th, keeping my eye out for it.

Sorry I worded that wrong, I meant that manual will only be available on the C300, auto is standard on C350. So if you want a stick on a C350 you are sol.

Np, for the record I don't even know how to drive stick. But I do know that there are people who would like the option to get the bigger engine and the manual trans. Also what is with them not offering a C350 4Matic? Do they think that just because one needs the benefit of AWD that they don't care about power?

I guess its the same idea as Lexus and not offering AWD on the IS350, only on the lower model with less power. I'm sure they'll offer 4Matic on the C350 in the near future.

New chassis pretty much, B8. The B6 started in '02 ('01 in Europe) and ran till '05, minor facelift in '05.5 started the B7 and B8 is slated for '09 I believe with a complete redesign (body, transmission option, etc) like the w204.

They are going to slide the engine back behind the axle where it should be. Hopefully they will make the exteriors look better.

I think Audi's have the best interiors in the industry!

Engine availablity

I agree. The rest of the planet gets choices we never see because of MBUSA's marketing dweebs. The Luxury model should be able to have the 3.5 or the Bluetec Diesel. I have driven an E-Class Bluetec and was amazed at the power and quiet running. And, the not-available-here BMW E330D gets excellent reviews in the Euro mags.

But, grandma MB is afraid that a diesel C-Class right now would take a big bite out of E-Class Bluetec sales. That's one thing they are right about.

A C320 Bluetec is coming here also when they can sell it in all 50 states. Mercedes is waiting on the revised 3.5L V6 before opening the tap on extra 350 models. There will be a luxury version of the C350 as well as a manual sport version for 2009.

Is this speculation or did you read somewhere about the changes for 2009.

If there were not so many people whining, there would be no C-Class forum.
