REAL c63 AMG body vs Sport AMG

I have been reviewing the REAL amg in the c63 forum. That is one BEAST of a car and aggressive as hell. I noticed the sport AMG package for the 2008 c-class differs quite a bit from the c63 amgs body. Whats up with that?

The only reason I am bringing this up is because I have a 2005 sport package amg kit on my kompressor and the c55 2005 is the same body, even the front end and hood.

Anyone know anything about this? I was reviewing the MB GERMAN site for exclusives, same thing. Whats up?

Please enlighten me.

Thanks in advance.

C55 is different than the 2005+ Sport Sedans.

The 2005+ sport sedans recieved the AMG bodykit from the older C32.

We're in 2008 MY now. What happened in 2005 may not carry on to 2007/8.

You sure?? I was next to a C55 awhile back and it looks just like mine...more so cuz I added rear spoiler...difference I know was that he had quad exhaust but I had CF lip, . I didn't see anything else right off that was different from mine.

you missed the fact that the c55 had a completely different front end? namely the clk front end...?

I see the slight differences, but you make it sound like it was drastically different to point where it was apples to oranges. I thought I had missed something.

C55 has the CLK AMG front end. it protrudes something like 8cm longer than the 2005+ Sport C-Class front end. Look at the first two pictures above, the cusp in the middle of the headlights come to a defined, sharp point. The fog lights are round and the grille around the fog lights are a different shape than the two lower pictures. The second two pictures is the AMG body kit put on the 2005+ C-Class cars, and is also the same as the older C32 AMG. Oval fog lights, slightly different grilles and the line where the hood meets the main grille is completely different.

1st lemme preface by saying, I'm not AMG guru, and I'm not trying start an argument. I was sitting next to him at the light and didn't really stared hard at his hood. Live in smaller city where you don't see many AMGs at all. So having said that, when I saw/read differences, I mean like not even close to being the same, like quad exhaust vs. my oval. The front (to the layman like myself) are virtually the same. Yes, I see the subtle differences, but I've had mine mistaken enough times for an AMG to know they close enough for average person to think they are the same. It sounded at 1st like were we talking about comparing the front end of SLK or CL AMG to the C version.

It's mostly the front air dam and the grille/hood that set the two apart. Pretty easy to tell apart, IMHO.

all good. I wasn't trying to start an argument either.

just pointing out that the front end of the C55 shares no body panels with the 2005+ C Sport Sedans, just like the C63 and the other C300/C350.

From a marketing standpoint, i would hope that the C63 would look visually different given it's rather large performance and price difference over the normal C-class models.

BTW - my buddy owns a bar in Augusta.
