My test drive of the C300 in Raleigh NC

So I drove down to the MB dealer in Raleigh before my appointment this afternoon and saw the new C300 outside . I pulled up next to the C300 with my baby W203 (see picture below ) and started to compair cars side by side. The New C is a really good looking car with great lines but HUGE side mirrors which folded (which made it ok then on looks). I noticed that the wipers on the C300 driver side was longer than the passanger side and that all your spray shoots are under the hood per say(just not on top like the W203). Oh and the blue glass window tint is now black tinit standard.

OK so the sales person came out and started to explain the car on the outside and to my surprise the gas tank body lid is rubber not metal(very flimsy) Oh and you can put both types gas in the new C`s like the chevys fuel flex system. OK everyone hates the inside but if you all look at your W203 you pretty much have the samething just less curves in the New C, so I was confused about those comments how people did not like the interior( to each his own right). If you buy the car with no Nav system you get a 5 inch screen pop up and if you get the Nav system you get the 7 inch screen. The screen has two button infront of it . Left button is to tilt the screen to your comfort and right but is to close and open the screen. But everything else was almost like an 07W203 just bigger knobs and a little up grade on buttons(thats what my impression was ).

I took the car for a test drive and it did really well and and it ws much quiter inside than my W203 and the souns system was awesome.

I like the car and would for sure buy one. Base price is $31500 plus $750 for paint color and the with the media package and AMG wheels and some other things( I have the sticker price copy in my car if you all want a detailed price) the totaly for the demo was $38800+- . So not bad at all I think.

This is news to me. Thanks for the info. So the demo cars that the dealers have are all 7 inch screens, right? Do both the 5 inch and 7 inch screens pop up?

I think all demo cars have the 7 inch screens. However, only the 7 inch screen pops up while the 5 inch screen is integrated.

I can not rember if he said the non nav 5in is a pop up or fixed but I am pretty sure he said pop up (I might be wrong). Yes all dealer demo have the 7 in pop-up with nav system. Oh all new W204 will be sold by MB dealer on 1 August 2007.

Is this the screen without the multimedia package? If so, it doesn't appear to be a pop up.

Yes it is and it's a fixed display. Don't know why it has to be "undercover" when it's a fixed display, seems unnecessary. Looks like it would be kind of hard to read from an angle

Do you think it has the cover for the glare factor. What do the standard wheels look like of you do not order the AMG one for $1000

Not sure about the glare. Had a Pioneer in dash navigation with anit-glare coating and it worked great. I should really wait to see it before commenting but moving parts means more problems usually...the standard wheels are 17" with 7 twin spoke rims with all season tires:

They don't look bad really. I'd actually prefer the standard wheels on the C350 which are 6 twin spoke rims...

It seems that there are a few options to choose from in the standard rims, but the only low profile option is the AMG rims? I like the looks of the AMG rims, but maybe not enough to spend the extra $1000 on them.

How much more does it cost to get the Black Birdseye Maple trim in the C300 Sport?

2008 C350
I had the dealer run that in his system and it came up as no additional cost, but he had to select the 350 to get it to even allow him to do it. I believe it is standard in the 350 so that would make sense that it would be no cost. I was told that is probably because they can't order it in the 300 yet, but will be able to shortly and the price will be set then.
