Was really confused Sport vs. Luxury

So my wife decided on the C-300 Sport, and I just got back from the dealer after two days of confusing dialogue. He kept telling me there's no way to get an all wheel drive C300 Sport Sedan. We couldn't figure out why the catalogue says 4-matic was an option for both the C300 Sports Sedan and the C300 Luxury Sedan, and I finally figured it out. The C300 Sports Sedan is just really just a C300 with the Sports Package. Right??

I don't even know if the above statement/question makes any sense. Basically, my wife drove a 2-wheel drive C300 Sports Sedan yesterday, and wanted the same thing (with the sport seats, the AMG moulding, aluminum trim, etc.) but just with 4-matic AWD. So instead of making it simple and just ordering a C300 Sports Sedan with AWD (which the dealer insisted didn't exist), we ordered a C300 4-matic with the Sports Package.

I know she got the car she wanted it was just a really confusing way of ordering it.

Both the C300 Sport and C300 Lux will be available in 4matic (AWD) starting Sept. 1. All demo's on the lots now are RWD. If she wanted the 300 Sport 4matic, make sure that is what was ordered.

that seems high for c300 sport with those options...do you recall what else you ordered with it? P1 or P2 package? AMG rims? 300 sport with multimedia, auto and ipod should around 37K in the US

4-matic AWD? is that what's bumping it up to 40k?

it was the p1 package fyi

also, and this was something else that was confusing, if you order the 4-matic C300 and add the sport package, you still have to pay a couple hundred bucks to take off the old school mercedes hood ornament and replace it with the flush mounted tri-star.

OK, that is making sense. 4matic with P1 would get you up to 40, but it sounds like they ordered you a 300 Lux, then the Sport grille kit (which is listed for $191 on MBUSA) to switch the grilles. Now I'm confused because you could have gotten a 300 Sport with 4matic just as easily (and for less $$) than the 300 Lux.

Do you recall what the interior trim is? Burl walnut trim or aluminum? What color apolstery?

right, this is where the dealer was completely uninformed. we had to talk to a younger salesperson who sorted things out. basically, she wanted a 300 sport with 4-matic. the confusion is this - when ordering a 2008 at the dealership, the c300 is separated by drive, not trim. so you start with either a c300 or a c300-4w (4-matic). not a c300 sport or a c300 luxury.

so you get a c300-4w for the AWD, then add the luxury package to get the wood trim, cushy suspension, and cushy seats, or the c300-4w and add the sport package for the AMG body moulding, flashy rims, sporty suspension and seats, etc. HOWEVER, the c300-4w with the sports package, which basically nets you a c300 sport with 4-matic, still has the stand up hood emblem. it costs $200 to change that to the emblem you would get with the c300 (non-4w) with the sports package.

it's EXTREMELY confusing, and I figured it out long before the older salesman. the younger salesman and I were completely on the same track with the above. so basically the differenciation is not C300 Sport vs. C300 Luxury, the differenciation is C300 vs C300-4w, and then whether you add the Sports Package or the Luxury Package.

whew!

So, the complete order was:

C300-4w, Sports Package, Palladium Exterior, Black MBtex interior, P1 package, Multimedia Package, Ipod Package. It will have the aluminum interior trim, which is part of the Sports Package.

hmmmm. that hood ornament on a sport package is new to me, but it sounds like everything else is what is in the sport. I guess it is all good if you got the car you wanted.

Congrats on the order..I expect to be ordering shortly myself. Did you get a build or arrival date?

search the boards...you aren't the only one who wished that. no memory seats and no keyless go are the two huge mistakes of the US release of this car.

2008 4matic C300
Sounds like my exact car. Mine just arrived in New Jersey and is being trucked to Boston this week. About the rims, I am assuming you have the double spoke 7 star rims? What is the center cap, the blue with laurels or silver with the star?
