335i competitor?
Does anyone know if MB is going to bring out a W204 to compete with the 335i? Meaning it having an engine producing ~300hp. Yes, there will be the C63 but we all know that's the M3 competitor. Maybe a supercharged/turbocharged version of the 350 or 300's engine? I know MB is working on turbocharged I-4 that's producing a lot of torque but not as much hp as the bimmers I-6.

I hear MB will be upping the HP on the 3.5 CGI engine to the 300hp area. The next gen A4 (B8) is said to be bringing out a 3.0 with turbos putting out around 330hp as the mid-range A4 model. The 2.0T should be upping the HP to around 260 for the entry model.
So it'll be interesting in the next year or so to see what engines come out to compete with the 335i's TT I6 engine and output.

MB never competes in performance for regular car. MB has AMG line which competes nicely with BMW and others performance cars. For example C63 overperforms M3 which keeps 420Hp. So do not expect any 300hp from C350, choose luxury over performance.

The new Mercedes V6 for the C350 will come from whatever MB shows next month at the Frankfurt auto show with the facelifted SLK. Current rumor puts it at 306hp. This will be for the 2009 model year in the U.S.

This is common throughout the Mercedes line...look at the S-Class engine. The S550 has more HP than any of its competitors. (A8, 750, Lexus LS, etc)

i think its pretty reasonable for the C350 to hit 300hp in a yr or so.
just look at the 330i then 1 year later it became the 335i within the same new body.
330i was out for some time. so as the C350, 06-08 now. so...C3XX or C400? haha

2. 3.2 with 265hp
3. I4 diesel turbo with 175hp, 30/39 mpg ratings
4. Turbocharged V6 with 330hp
Could be a clue that they are going to release this turbocharged V6

Most of the issues with the 2.7TT were early versions, small oil lines. They fixed that with larger oil lines for cooling the turbos. But you gotta admit, modding that engine gives you some nice outputs, even with a chip. Friend has a '01 A6 2.7T, ECU flash, putting out a little more than 300 hp/tq.
