I hope they really make some changes to the E similar to the S and now the C.

7 model years is now the norm for DBAG, generally. Competition can change that, but it's been pretty consistent across most of the sedan models [C, E, S] for a while now. The exceptions from the old days would never hold up to current competition [the 16+ years for the '72 SL, the W126 sedan from '81 through '91 come to mind], but they don't seem pressured to go to a 5-year cycle to match the Japanese, either.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Its because they introduce a new model every year for almost every brand. C class for example....
this year, the sedan...then the wagon...then the AMG version...then the coupe....then the CLK...then wait...its time for a mid life refresh... So it seems like the car is much busier than it is, but they add so many different models, that any consumer can find what they want (in just about any price range) and the company never seems like their cars are dying on the vine because they'll introduce a random R class...CLS, SLC, Ocean Drive, SLR that all continue to grab headlines, while keeping the prestegious long life cycles.
I say prestegious because when people buy a fine car they don't want to look up and it be out dated or out of style in 2 years. Which keeps resale up and everyone happy.
The end.
I can't see me changing my Class any time soon. I look forward to growing old together.
