High prices for AMG rims!

The prices on W204 rims at the dealer are crazy! My local dealer had a W204 Premiere party last night. On dislpay with the cars were 2 W204 AMG rim styles. I saw:

AMG Style IV 6-Spoke 17 inch front B6 603 1400 $735

AMG Style IV 5-Spoke 18 inch front B6 603 1382 $795
AMG Style IV 5-Spoke 18 inch rear B6 603 1383 $850

Also note - these rims or any W204 rims will not retrofit to W203 or older C-Class models. The offsets are much too high. Something similar to front wheel drive offset around et45.

this is now on Mercedes website:

"About Accessory Pricing

Actual prices vary by dealer and do not include labor, installation charges or local taxes. Please see your dealer for final pricing."

That sucks - now dealers can charge what they want and could be over MSRP.

I see one piece AMG rims in the $400 to $500 range so $735/$795/$850 for 1 piece is expensive.

I think MB intentionally put those standard rims on the 300 Sport to get people to upgrade to the AMG rims. And the W204 AMG rims sure look nice.

Heck I saw the TV ads last night...starting at 31,975....I'm sure they'll get people in the door for an MB at 32K, then will sell them the options. That's just the way it works.

Were you at "America Service Center" Last night? I was going to go but I watched the NFL instead. So the AMG Style IV 6-Spoke 17 inch front B6 603 1400 appear to be the standard C350 rim, If that is the case then the cost to upgrade to these rims is about the same as the price difference between the C 300 and the C 350. Why not just buy the C350?

Caliber Motors in Anaheim Hills CA will sell the 17" AMGs at discount and they are still making a good profit on them. Their prices would be plus shipping but no tax unless you live in California. 1-800 252-6877

AMG 7.5X17 B66031400 $602.70 retail $735
AMG 8.5X17 B66031401 $651.90 retail $795

I didn't get a quote on the 18's but the retail price for four is only about $200 more than a set of 17s. My dealer says there is about $1000 profit in a set of four.

and those prices do not include tires!

OEM wheels are notoriously expensive, particularly German cars. I remember OEM VW and Audi wheels going for $450-650 a piece from the dealership.

With those prices you could get high-quality lightweight BBS wheels with enough leftover for tires.

Lol this isn't new. Dealers have always charged what they want on prices. Generally in populated areas where there are lots of dealerships the prices tend to even out because of competition.

Yes I attended the C premiere at ASC. Not a big turn out but the premiere was good with a nicely catered event.

As far as the 18" rims costing the same as buying a C350 - the C350 comes standard with the 17" AMG and to upgrade to 18" AMG from the factory is only $1000 for both C300 and C350 according to mbusa.com options:

18" AMG 5-Twin-Spoke Wheels details $1,000

If you buy them as an accessory from the dealer the package is:

AMG IV 18" 5-Spoke Wheel details $3,290

What's new (to me) is that this is now posted in red on MBUSA under accessories and I have building cars on MBUSA since it started and I have never seen that before. Maybe I just did not notice. Plus I thought Mercedes had a single MSRP that dealers could not go over. Maybe all just new to me.

I think that is just the standard language that you see on all car ads. MSRP is just the suggested price, but the dealers are always free to make their own deals. I have never seen an instance where the dealer's "deal" was over MSRP.

I had a talk with my salesman just today and I told him about the east coast dealers discounting W204s. He said the high volume dealers (Fletcher Jones, for example) can charge whatever they want because they sell so many cars and cars like the C are blown out the door in high volumes whereas, for example, a CL63 which is a $140K car might well be marked up $20K over that. And they get it.

All MBUSA cares about is volume volume volume because they always get their price and whatever the dealer sells them for is their problem. The real problem is for the buyers because all these discounted cars knock resale and trade-in values down.

Wow. Now that is interesting. I guess when you get up to a certain $$ amount the market sets the price regardless of MSRP...
