Selling an ordered C300

Hi,

I ordered a C300 Sport beginning of August 07 and will receive it in about 2 weeks (mid/end of October 07).
I ordered it because I love ... and I still do.
But. now it turned out that I can not keep the car.
It's not that I can't afford it but it has to do with my new job and the customers I am dealing with.

Anyway, now my questions:
What is the best way to handle this situation ?
Not buying the car and loosing the $1500 deposit I already made ?
Buying the car and selling it afterwards ?
Is there any way that somebody who wants to buy the car can take over the order I made and buy the car directly from the dealer...to be the first owner.

Many thanks for your help !

Deposits are usually fully refundable unless you signed a waiver on that.

Yes I signed that the deposit is not refundable.

The dealer ordered exactly the car I wanted and I received also a $1200discount. Because I wanted this car I wasn't worried about signing it.

Read about a similar occurance in another forum.

I think your best bet is to not accept deliver and see if they'll still refund you the deposit. If they don't, you're out $1,500. If you take deliver, its a used car and it will likely cost you more than $1,500. It now a matter of minimizing your losses.

Best of luck and let us know how this turns out.

Perhaps you can advertise that you are selling your order and state you are not adding any mark-up. If someone is in a big hurry and your car matches what he wants, he might just consider it.

Good luck Maexi.

Why not just list the build sheet here, someone may want it.

Thanks - good idee !

Because the car has some opitons (18" AMG, Leather) that are not easy to get without doing a special order and waiting 2 months for delivery, there might be a chance somebody is interested.

Here the car that I ordered:

C-Class C300 Sport
  • Obsidian Black
  • Black Leather
  • AMG-designed Body Styling
  • Sport Suspension Sportline Package
  • 7-Speed Automatic Transmission
  • 18" AMG 5 Twin-Spoke Aluminum-Alloy

MSRP: $36,675.00
Selling Price: $35,475.00 + dealer processing fee ($290).

Sample Picture how the ordered car will look like:

Let me know, if somebody is interested.
It will also be offered under Ebay.
