I really like the tan/beige/maple interior too. Only problem is that my last car had a similar color grouping and it was time for a change. Next car will likely have it, though.
I agree on the tan interior, but the 300 Lux has Burl Walnut trim...the black birdseye maple is the in the 350 sport only in the US.

Would be nice if we had all of the options that are available seemingly everywhere else.

Buy the kit for $191....any decent mechanic can make the switch in 30 mins for $50.

Just click on the MB logo and look for the new C-Class. Sorry for the in-direct link but the link gets broken when I paste the URL from the C-Class section.

Once the radio is on, you can close the cover and it stays on. No need to have it open all the time, though we usually do...no big deal either way....

Closing the cover will work as you can dial in your preset stations.

You can not however twirl the wheel and tune stations that are not presets.

For those interested in swapping out the grill on the Luxury model for the sports grill, are you also aware that the body side moulding near the ground is also different????

Its easy to focus on the grill and hood ornament differences between the Luxury and the Sports models. Then one day you're looking at photos of both models and realize that there is something missing.

Anyone have some idea what the side mouldings cost?

Are you talking about the honey comb net thing on the bottom of the car where the fog lamps are? The sports version has the honey combs and the luxury has the bars in the front. My dealer said they can't switch the two things but another dealer said they could. Not sure if that is what you are referring to.

Thumbs up

Here is my C300 Lux with the sports front grill. The dealership swapped it out fro free. They also gave me the original grill so that will either go on ebay or I might just keep and and change the look after a few months :-)

Got the car on Sunday, went to Niagara Falls and back. Has 1268 miles on it already. Break in is done

That looks great! Do you know if the dealer would switch out the bottom part too if you asked? Not sure if you mentioned that.

Also in NJ, don't you need to have the plates in the front and back? I notice they didn't make you put it in the front but they choose to put their dealership advertising instead.

How does your Ipod sound with the MM?

the bottom is a front spoiler and i don't think the dealer will switch that one...they'll just tell you to get the sport package.

Lid

Not true. The lid can be closed and the radio still works and the nav repeater display in the speedo still works and the voice commands, if active, can still be heard.

The conversion kit doesn't include the bottom grill. I read somewhere on these forums that some dealers are willing to change it for you at a price. Personally I prefer the one with the lux package, over the honey comb sport grill.

Yes we need front and back plates, I am still waiting for the plates, what you see is the place holders from the dealership, the plates will get installed in them once i get them.

If you look closely, the sport bumper and the lux bumper are opposites. On the sport the angles go down, on the lux the angles go up. They appear to be a different shape, but might just be an illusion, possiably just turn them upside down. Still would need new fogs as sports are round and lux are oval, which can't be cheap, or you could swap bumpers but that sounds even more pricey.

Any idea how they put the flat emblem on? I was told by our tech's that they couldn't be swapped out...obviously they are wrong.

A few more shots. The ride on the LUX model is really nice and the car feels tight, like one solid piece. The interior is also very good.

Today was a great day. Cleaned the car and then decided to change the grill from sports to lux. Here are some before, after and intransition pics. :-)
I think I am loving the new look. It really meshes well with the lights.

if only the C350 has the luxury I would've gotten that, so I can slap on the Carlsson kit. I love the Carlsson CK35 look. The 08 suspension between the C300 sport and luxury are actually the same, but for 2009 I read that they're actually will put the softer setup in there.

Our 2004 C240 is the equivalent of today's "Luxury" while the C230k was the equivalent of today's "Sport". I noticed many times how much better the C240 rides than my brother's 2005 C230k. I definitely like the luxury suspension better.

When I got the new C350 I had no choice but to take it as a "Sport".

I know that most people like the look and the profile of the Sporty car but I can say I'd rather have the ride of the Luxury. We took a 200 mile trip yesterday in the C350 and the sport suspension nearly shook my backbone to bits.

There may be hope if I learn that all can be fixed with a change of shocks or springs.

One other thing that annoys me to no end is worrying about parking logs and curbs with the AMG styled front bumper. How can the car look better if the lower bumper is all mangled?

And to prove my point, I've been checking out "Sport" model's bumpers on driven cars and they're ALL scarred up.

It's hard to believe that MBUSA won't let us special order a 350 Luxury.
I love my 06 C350 performance and comfort. I had an 08 C350 loaner for a day and couldn't wait to get my 06 back from service because of the hard ride in the 08. I will buy a W204 Luxury model but only as soon as they offer it with a 350 engine or equivalent.

I have driven the C350 as a loaner and I did not feel the ride was rough. It actually felt better than my 2005 C240, but that could just be the age of the car that is making it feel rougher. Also I think the sport models are only about a half inch lower, so overall that shouldn't make a tremdous difference in curb damage. You just have to be careful, I have almost smashed the lower bumper on my C240 several times as well.
