C-Class Luxury

How many people have actually gotten the luxury ? I think the majority of people opted for the sport. Could someone post some pix of their luxury C-Class ? Thanks...

Being that this is an enthusiast site I think you will find most of us opted for the sport. I personally would not have been interested had it not been offered. I love the cross drilled rotors, slightly more menacing stance, sculpted and exaggerated aerodynamics. Oddly enough I have counted off more Luxury models in the wild though?

I never saw myself owning an MB... Never even visited their website...

Until I first saw that C350 Sport parked next to where I work ...

The rest is history.

Just saw my first Lux models at the dealer last week. They looked surprisingly nice to me. I was so ready for my 350 Sport that I just thought the AMG-type posture would be far superior.

The 300 Lux was on the showroom floor right next to a new S and they looked eerily similar from the front. So, given that I like the S (or just would like an S), I was surprised. I had considered a Lux initially solely for the interior options, but did not think the one at the dealer was that much more comfortable then the Sport. Although I did like the wood trim.

I also spoke to the dealer about it and he confirmed that he had 3 Lux's on the lot available, but no Sports. Said the Sports were simply more popular.

I asked about the demographics of the Lux buyers and his response was that they were generally older and were either past MB owners or new MB owners that wanted the more traditional MB look. Makes sense to me.

Demographics again

<<I asked about the demographics of the Lux buyers and his response was that they were generally older and were either past MB owners..... >>

Lemme see now, where did I leave my walker?

My C300 Lux will arrive at my dealer this week. So, I will be transporting my hellishly expensive 18s down to them today since the tires arrived there from Tire rack yesterday. Then the TP sensors can be swapped from the OE wheels. The OE 17" tires (better be Michelins) will show up on Craigslist soon after.

I opted for the luxury because I liked the interior better than the sport. It looked more sophisticated and less "cheap." I'm going to do a sports grill swap so I can have a sporty look on the exterior. Only think is I don't think they can swap the bars with the honey comb front part that is on the sport. Well at least they won't at the dealership I went to.. maybe another dealership will do it.

I am not older either. But a previous MB owner :P

The dealer said "generally" RLE and I didn't intend to imply it was true for all. I think the point he was trying to make was that the look of the unmodified Lux was more traditional and that appeals to a more traditional MB buyer.

It's kinda funny. I've only seen 1 Lux and maybe 2 sports on the road in my town. My dealership didn't have any Lux models until recently but they had 3 sport models outside the dealership just waiting to be picked up. I really like both of the cars. I like the meanacing looks of the sport (with AMG rims) but I also love the baby S looks of the lux. As a current W203 Lux owner I'm thinking about getting a W204 Lux as my next car or maybe an E-Class. I'm not that old either; I'm 33.

I think you're better off with the Luxury, they don't float down the road like they used to, the suspension and whole car seems a lot more solid and firmly planted. Look at it from a tire-perspective and road-noise point of view as well, you're not going to have to replace tires and the ride will be quieter. I think a Palladium silver Luxury with gray interior looks pretty sweet, or even black with the beige. I currently own a 2005 sport and wish I had the wood trim, but the biggest gripe is the road noise and tire replacement intervals with staggered width sport tires.

I never considered anything BUT the Lux...I don't like staggered tire sizes, and I think the AMG add-ons that characterize the US Sport models are seriously overdone. Plus, I don't need any more handling than the standard Lux provides - it's the ideal long-distance touring car, and that's what I wanted.

If the straight Avantgarde package were offered in the US, I might have gone for it - in effect, I could create that car by replacing the grill on our Lux - but all the AMG go-fast mods are a complete waste from my perspective.

I probably would've gotten a 350 Lux if MBUSA offered it....I guess the 350 was more important to me than the Lux since I went that route when I had to choose.

I think the cross drilled rotors are on both types. At least that is what I recalled while I was in the lot a couple of hours ago. Maybe it was just wishful thinking?

Yes, I am considering moving from the TL to the new C-class (or to a used S-class) to get back into the Benz group...

I personally think that this car will take a LOT of business away from Infitity's G-series as well as the Acura TL as the price points are within a few thousand of each other now. Good job Benz!

Just got back from the dealer.checked out the sport and Lux versions. Like the Lux version the best, interior, etc. The dealer would put the sport grille in the lux version for $495.

Sport grille cost

Holy cats! Dealer retail for the Sport Grille kit which must include the hood medallion (replacing the star) is $200.

The kit can be purchased from Caliber Motors in Anaheim Hills CA for about $140 and you can install it yourself. Their number is 800-252-6877. Tell them you are looking at their ad in the MBCA Star.

I have purchased a number of expensive parts from them in the past with significant savings and prompt shipment. Far cheaper than local dealers.

I also like the luxury better because i think the tan/beige/maple interior suits the new C the best. I also like the 4 spoke wheel of the lux better than the 3 spoke wheel of the sport.

I really like the tan/beige/maple interior too. Only problem is that my last car had a similar color grouping and it was time for a change. Next car will likely have it, though.

Yeah I like the beige interior also and, as ridicilous as it sounds, I much prefer to drive a 4 spoke steering wheel over a 3 spoke steering wheel.

One thing I did not like about the new CClass was the pop up screen that you had to keep open for the radio and other functions. I could see it being up if you wanted it for traffic or nav.

My "stealer" wants 900 to replace the grill. The cost of labor makes the price high apparently. I wouldn't even know how to install it myself to be honest.

Well technically you could close it and access the radio via the steering wheel according to the dealership.

The wood trim and tan interior of the Luxury model definately looks the best and the traditional MB grill will always be a classic, but I like the sportier features of the Sport model.

I was never a fan nor considered a MB until the new C-class came out, definately a breakthrough model for MB (along with the new S- and CL-class).
