Obsidian Black Metallic vs regular black?
Can anyone tell me which is better? The difference is only $700. I noticed that the regular black have very sharp shines but the obsidian black have little glitter shines.

I would suggest going for the regular black as it is darker and sharper than metallic black. This is just my opinion and that's why I chose the regular black.

I went with Obsidian Black, it looks like normal black at night or in the shadows but once the sun or lights hit it, it shines forever! Plus all those pretty sparkles mean it will hide all the swirls that MB black loves to show.

Obisidian definitely has a glitter/shine that overpowers the normal black if you see them side by side. What I have noticed though is the Obsidian tends to show more slight scratches than the normal black.

I really like metallic and depth of the Obsidian Black.
However, paint touch ups will be more forgiving on the regular non-metallic black (and it is $700 less).
Though call.

Lets face it, stone chips are stone chips, your going to see them when you touch them up no matter what color you get. As for the scratches, I've seen a car in Obsidian Black with 60k miles and it still looked new, most likely had been buffed by the dealer, but still looked good, just keep good care of the car and cross your fingers.

To follow up on this topic, I did some research and sure enough, for the 08 model year the C Class gets the nano-particle paint, which is said to resist scratches, it won't stop your crazy x-girlfriend from digging her key into the side of it, but it should stop all those minor scratches from people brushing up against it. I've seen this paint used on the S Class, then the GL and now the C, good news for all the colors.

I have decided to go for the solid black. I did look at the obsidian black car with the solid black car in the MB dealer where it is a covered area with lights. The soild black did look a lot darker than the obsidian black and the shines look more aggressive with the soild black because the it is still new but the obsidian black looks more stylish and modern. I havent see the majestic black yet but anyway it is only for other classes. Well with the obsidian black, there is no need to wash and wax regularly where as the solid black fequent washing and waxing are necessary. Also scratches are superficially noticeable in solid black than the obsidian black. Well I still go for the soild black because I like my car to look mean and aggressive rather modern and stylish. I just need to learn not to **** off my gf.

I also have been battling back and forth between these two colors. Just today I called the dealer and had him switch my color choice to Obsidian. It was a tough call. The dealer had a regular black on the showroom floor and it just looked so sharp. Next to it was the E and S Classes with their special metallic blacks and WOW are they nice, one had a red and the other a blue tint to them if you looked closely. The Obsidian is a simple metallic black and reportedly doesn't have a tint to it. But at least my door handles will match my paint! j/k (Regular black cars have Obsidian door handles)
I'll probably regret paying the extra $15 a month or whatever the $710 costs me over the life of my loan.

My past 2 MBs have been flat black so I decided to be "different" and go for obsidian black this time around. I've seen them side by side in the show room. The flat black looks more like jet black and wow... but the obsidian black is just classy and beautiful... and in the sun the metallic particles look really nice. I can't wait to get the car.

I just got mine two weeks ago and went with the regular black because its darker. The car is going to shine no matter what, and I agree that it looks meaner and more aggressive in regular black.
