It's On It's Way!
My salesman just e-mailed me. I don't know if I received an earlier production slot or if he believes in the philosophy of "under-promise / over-deliver," but my C350 just set sail aboard the Vessel Talisman. It was originally scheduled for 10/30/07 production, so this was a huge surprise. Can't wait!!!

Your posting just prompted me to call my dealer. Initially they promised a end-of-November delivery, but was just told that the car is already on the boat heading to Halifax. The car should get to the dealership by the end of October.
I just might be able to drive the car before it starts to snow.

hmmmmmm... kinda fishy... since my car too is coming 4 weeks early, by the end of this week... i bet it is standard practice for MB salesman to underpromise and over deliver so they think we will be so happy that we will pay a higher price OTD... conspiracy theory, but its either that or for some reason the plant in Bremen deciced to jacl up their output speed in the last month and a half to meet the great demand??

2008 C-350 Palladium Silver and MM.
I'm looking for the tall building with MBTex. I just heard today that my build date has moved back 12 days.
You guys that are getting yours early are killing me. My dealer said that when a name was assigned they try to move them up. That is why I am so depressed about mine moving back. Anybody that got moved up have the MM package? This might be what is holding ours back.

I had a build date of 10/30 to be completed by 11/10, but i was informed that production was complete today 10/23! and shipment will take an additional 4-6 weeks.
can people tell me approx. how long you had to wait once production was complete, for delivery to the west coast?

MBTex / Chaz00Blue -- if it makes you guys feel better, maybe they are completing the Canadian orders first because our MSRP is almost $9000 more than the equivalent car in the US. Thanks to the rising exchange rate. I have a feeling that they are going to fill the Canadian orders first and then drop the price. Porsche already drop theirs by $5000 last month.
Chaz00Blue -- mine has the equivalent of the MM in the States. But is a C350 4 matic.

I agree with you, I think we're in for a price drop or super deal ... the class action suit is on with the other companies, Porsche dropped their prices, BMW has cash incentives on and Audi is offering free 4 yr service or winter packages .... somethings up soon for MB ...I just hope my car comes in on time or dealer honours retroactive if within a month (wishful thinking?)
I think they would have to do something retroactive if a drop comes in... otherwise people would refund their deposits, residual values on leases would get all screwed up, and people will sue.
BTW, what kind of fuel economy are you getting on your TSX and RDX? My friend's Bro has a TSX and gets something like 13 L/100km. And my MIL has a RDX that gets 13.5 L/100km. I think it's their driving. I normally do 9 L/100km on my TL and that's a bigger engine.

The good news is that the C-class is a new release here so don't expect model-specific deals. Maybe something across the board but MB Canada has been arguing that the C has more content then the US counterpart (they saw this coming, I'm sure). They'd also quote intangibles (to us) like market size, geographical dispersion, and regulations, etc..

I guess only time will tell ...fun.
BTW I get about 11.5/100km on both of them

MBTex,
Keep the faith, don't waiver now! My dealer told me to call him back on Friday. His dealer rep is going to be in and he promised to get to the bottom of my delay.

Awaiting delivery of new car...but not mine
LOL this is funny. I'm awaiting delivery of a new car to the owner of the c230 I'm going to purchase. Sound confusing? *Eghm* I'm excited, because, when he gets his new 2008 car, I get his old car, (well, older, 2003 model).

2008 - S550 4Matic, 2010 - E350 4Matic, 2010 - C350 4Matic
I talked to my MB dealer and he explained to me that he can justify at least a portion of the price difference between Canada and USA prices. The cars are just no equal, we have extras included the car that are either pay options in the USA or not even available at all.
I did price a car in Michigan and added the expenses to bring it over, just for the fun, and I can tell you it doesn't pay.
One important item is the trade-in allowance. In Canada they will verify the title against liens. That is very hard to do in the USA, 50 States. Then they worry about flood damaged cars. I can tell you that if there was an advantage to buy in the USA and bring it to Canada, when you trade it in, all you advantages are gone. My guess is, the trade in value would be reduced at least 10%, if not more. Naturally they will never tell you that "on the record".
I ordered my C350 - 4Matic on August 20. 2007 and I will take delivery tomorrow. It has everything, even key-less go, satellite radio, memory seats, 4Matic, rear curtain, you name it.
When I placed my order, we did not have all the colour information so I selected iridium silver/Black interior, to be save. If I had one complaint then it would be the very limited exterior and interior colour choices. This is even more reduced when you bring the model choice into the equation.

Jorg, u said "rear curtain", what do u mean by that? I don't think thats an option in Canada.
I'm in Ontario too, ordered my c350 w/command system, calcite white, black interior. Ordered Sep.28th, car is built and waiting for shipping allotment by boat from Germany to Halifax. Salesguy orignally said I should receive it before xmas, looks like that may happen

Jorg -- I did the same math myself too... it works out to maybe a couple thousand dollars diff. MB tries to level the playing field by adding an "localisation charge" of about $2000 when you register the car in Canada (for warranty etc.).
Problem is getting my hands on a car. Even talked to a broker but he says that even going as far as New England dealers are being warned against selling to Canadians.
crow944 -- I think the rear curtain is actually the power rear sunshade...

I think on top of all that you need a "compliance" letter from Mercedes-Benz and they charge $ 500.00 for that.
Yes I meant rear shade.

Jorg -- and don't forget, you can't get a C350 4matic in the US. That's partly why I splurged on it. (UPGRADE!!!)
So you're picking up tomorrow? From which dealership?

Jorg,
I'm also picking up my C300 4matic tomorrow in the Toronto Area. I'm assuming both our cars were part of the shipment that came into Halifax last week.
It's been a long wait for me.. i pre-ordered mine way back in June. Looking forward to it. Perfect timing too because my current lease (w203) runs out at the end of Oct.
Hopefully this weekend will be good driving weather!

There's a switch on the center console beneath the radio controls. I think it's second from the left. It's available with the P2 package in the US.
