Changing the Dash board color

I like the W204 sport except the silver dash board. Can the dealer change the silver dash for the Luxury model black dash.

You mean just the trim plate around the instruments? Key thing there would be whether you can just order a trim plate, or if it's a unit with the instruments. If the former, which seems most likely, this should be fairly inexpensive and not too difficult. Call the dealer's parts dept. and see what the piece costs.

I haven't ripped one apart, but I'm guessing its just that..a trim piece and should be swappable with the Lux version, that goes with everything inside the two cars, they are twins and all the parts would be interchangeable for the right person or the right money. I know a similar question has come up about changing the silver trim with the wood trim or vise versa.

Since you raised the question, I wonder what would be involved in changing out all the stainless steel with wood trim?

It would be very easy and shouldn't cost that much. The new C-class has only 7 pieces of trim. I would definately do this if I bought a C300 Sport.

Could you post a picture of exactly what trim piece you mean. I'm not sure I'm understanding.

Oh ok, that would require changing the entire spedo array I think since it is all one unit.

Doubt its one unit..production of cars means that you try to cut costs as much as possiable which would lead me to believe its just an added trim piece..might even be stick on, but you would have to really get into the speedo cluster to get to it. As for those wood trim pieces, I looked and the ones on the doors should just pop out with a flat blade screw driver or something wide to pry them up as they look to be held in place with plastic clips. The console around the shifter and around the climate controls would be your real problem, not sure how easy that comes apart, and if it would rattle like hell after you put it all back together. Anyone check on the price of the wood trim by chance? I was in on a Saturday and parts department is closed, I would attempt to email them but they probably wouldnt know what I was trying to do ha ha.

Yeah I don't think that they produce two different units, I agree that the silver is just stuck on. What I meant is that with a spedo it's all sealed up and if you do any tampering to a spedo you will be screwed. If you really want to change it that bad I would highly recommend that you get it done by a dealer and have the entire until replaced.
