Anybody else notice the door skins and mirrors rattle when you close the door?

I'm used to Audi's and BMWs that have bank vault doors. I'd always heard that benz's were built like tanks so I'm little surprised that the doors rattle when they're closed.

No solid thunk.

At first I thought my driver's mirror was just loose, but they've tightened it and now I'm noticing that the passenger mirror does the same. When closing the door, they visibly wobble.

This pretty normal for a C class to have flimsy doors or am I just used to something heavier?

You might want to bring your car back to the dealer because mine doesn't do that at all. When I shut the door, it's just as you mention... a tank.

MY2001 C320
Check 4 different dealers and all C close solid, but when you open the rear door from inside the door pull makes a hollow "tack" sound not the "thump" sound typical of MB. All cars are like that.

are you from OZ.....my new 200K did the same when you close the door. Took to the deal and they said it was the sun visor. If you put them down and close the door, it will sound normal..very disappointed

Had some free time last night so dropped by the dealer on my way home (very close to work). Took a look at one C300 luxo and one C300 sport.

All four doors on both cars, visible vibration of the door panel when the door closes accompanied by a rattling noise on the fronts that sounds like it comes from the mirrors.

The doors also felt very lightweight. Build tag on both said Germany.

There wasn't a C350 on the showroom floor. Is this systemic to 300's or am I just used to heavier duty doors?

I realize one person's "bank vault thunk" is another's tinny rattle if they're coming from different perspectives. And, no, I don't really think it's that big of a deal, just wondering out loud.

Heck you can sit on the doors if you like..at least thats what the guys in the comercial do ha ha I'm not trying it on my car.

Since we were on this topic...

I passed by a girl getting out of a 2008 VW Rabbit, parking on the side of the street. She got out and slammed the door shut. THE ENTIRE CAR SHOOK! And swayed right to left. Now, I wonder if she's going on a forums and complaining about her mirros rattling.

car mfg's are doing everything they can to reduce the weight to improve mpg..even MB is using thinner lighter metals now, hence the not-so-tank like sound when slamming the doors ..Its a different world now, so we have to get used to changes like that...

Was at the dealership today and this thread popped into my mind. So I hopped into the back, opened the door..shut the door..opened the door..slammed the door..no rattles.
