2008 Black Out C350 Saks Edition / 87 VW GTI
I paid $999 for the backup cam, connectors, installation and programming. I didnt get the VIM unit at the same time. I did however hear a rumor last time I was there that they were working on building the camera function into the VIM so you would just buy the one piece.... I looked on their site but didnt see anything about it yet.

Just called a place and if we get 4 ppl who want to buy the VIM module for the W204, we can get it for $300. He told me we can get a refund if it doesn't work and said there are no problems with the module. PM me if interested.

So just to recap, I've seen three companies that seem to provide a VIM module for the 204. They are:
MBdoctor
Nav-TV
Mid City Engineering
Is this correct? Are these the only 3? Who has tried specifically what, and what needs to be done to activate for each module. I've seem videos of people with VIM, but in order to activate they would have to press two buttons, or hold another to activate. Which system works which way?

I have been to midcity to have work done on my C and they are very professional and also are a real business with an actual building. They are mercedes specialists and only work on mercedes AFAIK and also do their own manufacturing but they only have maybe 15 or 20 products that they sell, all for mercedes (navtv by comparison sells like a million different interfaces for all sorts of different cars). I got my camera programmed by them and video in motion and more recently they just developed a fully intergated instrument cluster display for my valentine one detector so they definately know what they are doing. Their prices seem to be a bit lower than navtv.
The Mbdoctor guys really dont know anything about... Back when they spammed the forums with their dvd unlocker piece I tried calling the number and it was some guy's cell phone voicemail so right away It doesnt inspire confidence.

Nav-tv is a good company and they are pretty reliable. They do their own manufacturing and have an actual building as opposed to being an internet company only. The two issues that I have seen with navtv is that their prices can sometimes be dispropotionately high (as you have seen with the $700 price) and they have had some reliability/bugginess issues with some of their products. I dont think that they are a bad company but rather they release more products than they can properly test.
