I thoroughly read the manual to familiarize with the features and then keep the manual at home.

I think W204 is the only car out there that has manual larger than it's glove compartment.
Nope. 3 series did it too. If you wedge the manual holder just right you can force it in ... but there there's absolutely no room for anything else.

...and I was just getting ready to ask the same question. I got to about page 150 of the OM and decided that I was never going to finish reading the manual and decided to put it back in the car. I went ahead and stuck my leather brick in the slot on the passenger's side door. I might throw it somewhere in the trunk, but it seems to work for now...

Sounds very much like my experience. Read a good deal of the manual, stuck it in the driver's door side pocket, now its keeping the spare company. They're debating traction vs milage.
